Description

Broadcaster, TV presenter, journalist, author, Manchester music authority. Notorious and outspoken. Host of Channel 4’s The Word. Winner of two Sony Radio Academy awards. Recovering Catholic. United fan. Grew up in inner city Manchester, his 1981 first appearance on national TV leading to a career on BBC Radio Derby, then Manchester’s Key 103 FM in 1988. Played a pivotal role in what would later become dubbed the Madchester scene. Books include: Brothers – from Childhood to Oasis; Reds in the Hood, about early life in Old Trafford; My Word, a frank look at 1990s television.

General venue access

  • Accessible entry: Stand 3 is accessible from the pavement with steps leading to a courtyard. The venue is situated in the basement part of the building. There are 15 steps in total with a 90 degree turn on a stone staircase with handrails. Once inside the Stand 3 has a further 3 steps indoors before leading to the main space. Staff are always available to assist, however we cannot help to carry customers.

    • Wheelchair access type: Not fully wheelchair accessible

  • Stairs: 11- 20
    Number of stairs is provided as guidance and is not in addition to any wheelchair access type (lift/ramp etc) stated above.

How and when to make an access booking

Our access tickets service is available to anyone who:

  • Would like to book specific accessibility services, e.g. a hearing loop, audio description headsets, captioning units, seating in relation to the location of the BSL interpreter
  • Requires extra assistance when at a venue
  • Has specific seating requirements
  • Is a wheelchair user
  • Requires a complimentary personal assistant ticket to attend a performance

Terry Christian is one of those people who hardly needs an interviewer, though Neil Findlay did a good job. Wind Terry up and off he goes, sharing his memories, and his sometimes controversial views, with us all. He’s a great speaker, well informed, unafraid, funny and quick witted. And I’m quite sure he’s never been near a pair of Hush Puppies.
