Description
Award-winning author and broadcaster. Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester. Former Guardian columnist. Winner, Orwell Prize for Journalism 2023. His six books include: Dispatches from the Diaspora, From Nelson Mandela to Black Lives Matter, and The Speech: The Story Behind Martin Luther King’s Dream. He has written for The New York Review of Books, Granta, GQ and the Financial Times, and made several radio and television documentaries. His work 'takes us to uncomfortable places but with clarity, humanity and empathy’ (Orwell Foundation). General venue access
- Accessible entry: Stand 3 is accessible from the pavement with steps leading to a courtyard. The venue is situated in the basement part of the building. There are 15 steps in total with a 90 degree turn on a stone staircase with handrails. Once inside the Stand 3 has a further 3 steps indoors before leading to the main space. Staff are always available to assist, however we cannot help to carry customers.
