Description

The Wellbrick Centre is a fictional NHS mental health centre. At the Wellbrick Centre, patients get well or get bricked in the system and the Chief Consultant, Dr Roswell, mysteriously shares a name with the driveway. Not everything is as it appears. The musical is about two of its patients, Sam and Eddie, along with the staff who look after them. It is a conversational musical with poignant, comedic and absurd elements. Book and lyrics by Julianne Chauhan, with music and lyrics by Greg Van Kerkhof and Ben Hawkin.

An enjoyable show which explores a difficult subject matter in a creative way through strong performances and song. Some really great storytelling and acting from all performers. Eddie and Sam both had really touching moments of emotion in their performance and Dave was a very likeable care coordinator and the actor strong in multi-roling. Doctor Roswell, played by Stephen Andrew Grant, gave a great performance as both a musician and an actor. His character and the relationships he maintained were very intriguing and captivating throughout the show. Definitely catch it before it finishes its run at the fringe!

A challenging, thought-provoking show that refuses to offer easy answers to the questions it raises, and is all the better for it. Strong songs, really good performances from all the actors and a good venue.

Really enjoyable show with a good mix of story telling and music. I thought the show carried off a difficult but topical subject matter very well. Acting was excellent as we're the several music numbers. Bottom line is it was an enjoyable show to watch and in a great venue.
