Description
Grab your "all access" pass into the mysterious world of Broadway's backstage! Follow veteran "star dresser" Pam as she works her magic through complex costume changes, confrontations and quirky actor demands, all while staying hidden in the shadows. When the stress of invisibility gets heavy, supportive allies rally and equip her to stand up, curse like a sailor and be seen. This may be a solo show, but Kimberly Prentice quick-changes her way through 30+ distinct characters as we follow Pam's hilarious, and sometimes harrowing, journey of working in the dark, unseen, while trying not to disappear. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Enter the (not so) glamorous world of a Broadway dresser. Learn what it takes to be a backstage ninja! Well performed and moving story of being a Broadway insider.

“Unseen”
Starring on the solo stage in a play she wrote that feels like a memoir, Kimberly Prentice brings to life the hidden stories in “Unseen” of those the Broadway audience never sees … those working behind the curtains to ensure the stars in the spotlights shine. Told from the perspective of a wanna-be chorus-line dancer whose constant rejections lead her to become a dresser of the stars, “Unseen” is funny, enlightening, infuriating, and uplifting in equal measures. Kimberly Prentice not only masterfully demonstrates the acrobatics and magic she performs in the dark as a dresser, she also embodies thirty of those she dresses and those who populate the backstage’s shadows, heights, and depths in roles of a dozen-plus sorts.

Anyone who enjoys theatre and musicals should go and see this show, it's a real insight into what goes on behind the scenes to make it all happen on stage. Kimberly brings this to life in the most clever and amusing way to provide an hour of pure entertainment through great acting, dance and mime. I loved it!

The show made me laugh AND cry! It was so interesting to hear about the backstage world of Broadway. Although it was sad to hear about how some of the people were so cruel. I am glad Ms. Prentice made it through the bad parts and wrote such an interesting piece. Please go see it, and at least if you are like me and enjoy Broadway musicals and plays, you will really really enjoy it.

This is one of those shows where the protagonist really brings you along in her journey. In addition to sharing the challenges of trying to break into the New York performance scene, she also brings the world of backstage on Broadway to life. By writing and performing “Unseen”, Pamela has not only brought herself and her talents into new light, but has imparted a new appreciation of the essential choreography of those who work backstage to bring magic to the stage. A tribute to the unseen!
