Description

There is always a beginning. There isn’t always an ending. One story begins when God reaches down to make man. The other begins when a mother leaves her children on the youngest’s 18th birthday. Really, they are the same story. A story about enemies, magpies, a dog named Bethlehem and three tins of fruit. About exits, abandonments, and judgement days. About going back to the beginning, and figuring out where it all went wrong. About trying over and over.

A wonderful and moving performance from all three actors, telling powerful stories shrouded in complex mysteries. The audience were spellbound for the entire time, enjoying the movements, the interplays between the sisters, their family and their faith. Thoroughly recommended!

Like a poem come to life, Uncanny Valley is absolutely enthralling. The 50 minutes fly by as you are totally involved in this surreal world, brought to life by powerful preformances and stellar writing. I can't recommend this show enough, and it's a must see if you want to experience the depth that theatre has to offer.

A thoroughly surreal but unequivocally engaging exploration of faith and family.
Each of the three sisters, each mystifying and occasionally unnerving throughout, are brought brilliantly to life by their three performers: Lauren Kelly, Juliet Arpaç, and Leah Coghlan. Their physicality is truly something to see, the action of the play has been refined to the point where even the subtlest of visual or vocal cues is enough to move the players on. The three of them like dancers - stepping and spinning around an endless abyss.
With movements like dance and writing like poetry, Uncanny Valley stays with you long after it ends.

A beautiful and deeply affecting piece!!! The writing is phenomenal and all three performances will have you in tears. Set, lighting, and sound design are all elegantly simple and really contribute to the piece. Overall a brilliant show!

In a whirlwind of energy, Uncanny Valley spins you into a household and world where Catholic biblical stories feel as close and true as childhood memories. Carefully crafted writing, meticulously choreographed direction and three vibrant performances bring a family portrait to life that moves between comedic, familiar, and troubling. Full of relatable Irish references, candid truths of Catholic upbringing, and imaginative storytelling, this show will grip anyone who wonders about where truth ends and stories begin.

An absolute essential watch for any Irish person at the Fringe. An intricate examination of life under religious control and the bonds of sisterhood, beautifully crafted and impeccably delivered with standout performances. Excellently directed, written and designed. This young theatre company is one to watch. An excellent bang for your theatre buck this Fringe.
