Description

Therapy, a game the whole family can play. Join Australia's reigning queen of comedy cabaret, Dolly Diamond, as she works through decades of problems, peculiarities and personal challenges live on stage with her ever supportive (and unsuspecting) audience. This colourful midlife crisis – live on stage – promises to be camp cabaret gold with more than a touch of honesty. Apparently people enjoy other people's misery. They call it a shared experience. Well, I think it's time to share. Everything.

Dolly Diamond is at her witty and acerbic best this Fringe! Her sharp wit and impeccable timing had the audience jumping from deep belly laugh to giggles to more belly laughs. If you're looking for a guaranteed night of hilarity, or you are introducing a friend to Fringe for the first time, then this show is an absolute must-see! Highly recommend!

Dolly's show was hysterical. The improv with the audience had the whole place blue with laughter and some of her monologues were so extremely out-of-left-field that a single sentence like "I was a Brownie" already had the audience laughing out loud. The structure of the show was not doing it many favors (was it a science lab? Therapy? A cabaret show? Why did the very talented pianist randomly ask Dolly "have you tried therapy?" three times?) but the zaniness of it made that a forgivable weakness. If you like old-time camp, Dame Edna Everage-meets-Norma Desmond-via-Nathan Lane, or any kind of absurdist comedy, you'll eat Dolly Diamond up (if she doesn't get to you first...). I strongly recommend this!
