Description

How We Sound. Who We Are. What We Have to Say. The journey is inspired by the myth of Ulysses, suspended between heaven and hell, sentenced here to the Tower of Babel. Different accents and languages - what a feast for the ear and mind! And in Britain, they carry extra baggage: Class! So how can a foreigner resist the temptation to have a go? From the "upper-class twit" to the quintessentially English head-tilt, a bit of socially acceptable (and only vaguely Marxist) swearing and fun will be had by all! Come get lost in translation!

An unforgettable show, not because of illusions or bells and whistles but because it delivers an important message with light-heartedness and ease. Vivian, a gifted polyglot and talented actress forces her audience to think, with a smile. Tapping into the wisdom from classical antiquity and its relevence today, Vivian reminds us cherish that which is valuable to us, but never for a moment does the play lose the quality of lightness. It is funny without being frivous, it is clever, without being arrogant or pompous. This is truly a labour of love, and it is blatently obvious that Vivian has poured her soul into the content and delivery of the play. It is FANTASTIC.

This show was our first experience with Fringe Festival, and we couldn’t ask for something better! Very well written and executed, with some interesting lines that directly link Odysseus to the modern world (not forgetting the good old Dante’ Inferno), which is presented, in its struggles with language and communication, as a gigantic Tower of Babel. Would totally recommend!

A beautifully scripted narrative that successfully intertwines Greek mythology with modern language.
Interesting, intriguing and entertaining. Would definitely recommend!

Most impressive, spanning millenia between Ulysses/Odysseus taking ten years to get home to Ithaca, the same hero as described by Dante, and multiple languages and registers in the present day. Well worth seeing.
