Description

A brutally funny dark comedy about boarding school. Through the character of Fudgey: your quintessential, tone-deaf man in a suit (you know, the "harmless" type... until you find them running the country), award-winning, Gaulier-trained Tom Greaves explores the complexities of his own privilege in this mind-bending, tour-de-force debut. As Fudgey’s reality hits breaking point, Greaves embodies a carousel of personalities and puppets in an anarchic and virtuosic performance, ultimately facing Fudgey’s past to find his own (Tom’s) future. Strap in for a thrilling ride of laughter, tears and transformation. 'Funny, clever, and disturbing' **** (TheatreAndArtReviews.com). **** (MervsPOTFringe.com).

Wonderful. Hectic, human, bits probably went wrong and bits definitely looked like they were supposed to go wrong. Tom also welcomed us into the venue which was lovely. Felt like he’d had an interesting life and had been through his fair share of insecurities - mentioned he had a therapist. Lots of implicit and explicit critiques of boarding schools - sexism, hush-hush sexual abuse, cold relationships with their parents etc

The show connects with the audience from the start , it was so funny and had amazing energy! Tom the actor just doesn’t stop and the show flys by! Such a great entertainer. Also a story with heart.

Often raw, evidently vulnerable, sometimes uncomfortably honest, unrelentingly funny and bursting with promise and talent, go see this show.
Very impressive to see this guy switch between all these characters that mean so much to him and deservingly roast them. A festival highlight for me - bag yourself a good laugh and go see him

Wow! A one man solo that takes something as niche as boarding school and pushes the boundaries of your self-perception and your self-awareness.

Hilarious, honest and heartbreaking; This show will give you a comedy-drama that your fringe deserves. Come see this show!

Wow. A magnificent show performed by one of the most talented actors I’ve ever had the privilege of watching. Tom Greaves brings to life a wonderfully stupid, dark and dangerous world that we are at once intrigued and repulsed by! He is hilarious and charming and leaves you full of heart and tears. One of the best shows I’ve seen at the fringe ever. Thank you.

If the description of this show has already intrigued you, book your tickets! We went along with no previous knowledge of it and it’s the best thing I’ve seen this fringe. A privilege to watch the story of someone’s school experience so beautifully, creatively shared on stage. It’s so funny, and so tender. I didn’t want it to end and hope to see it again some time. Netflix - get involved.

We really, really enjoyed Tom’s show. He’s a real underdog, with bags of talent. This show had everything - a bit of camp, shock, thought provoking, impressions, charm, charisma. A must see!

Tom Greaves: FUDGEY at the Assembly Roxy is a funny, disturbing and at times deeply tragic piece, featuring convincing storytelling and wonderful physical comedy from Edinburgh-based writer/performer Greaves.

This is a promising debut, which should put Tom Greaves firmly on the comedy map—his mother would be proud!
