Description

Firefighter Micky and investment banker Andrew are choked by their respective blue and white collars. Micky puts the 'man' in manual, content with trifle for breakfast and all things analogue. He's perplexed by people like Andrew, permanently in competition to keep his bum on his desk chair the longest, all in pursuit of the lifestyle his partner Melissa thirsts for. A wolf in a frilly apron, she lives to serve Andrew dinner and watch him tear it apart. In a world where ambition and personal values continuously butt heads, who will let themselves starve?

Excellent show. Engaging and well-paced with very strong performances. Familiar themes but presented in a fresh unusual way, packing in interesting ideas.

Well acted show that really makes you care about the characters! Only not in that sense. You can't stay indifferent. The wife is portrayed with such raw honesty that makes your guts wrench. Well worth the time.

To watch a man eat was absolutely brilliant, the best one act I've seen at Fringe, genuinely.

To Watch a Man Eat was easily one of the finest pieces of theatre that I have ever seen. Incredibly compelling acting from this engaging cast. Captivating writing, direction and production made this a 100

I thoroughly enjoyed the show—it was well-written and performed. I would recommend it to anyone looking to be captivated by a compelling story and narrative

Top shelf work. The writing is razor sharp and the acting is excellent. My hat is off to the technician who managed so many lighting and sound cues seamlessly. This is a well-oiled production and will continue to do well no doubt. The actors listened incredibly well - to each other and the audience. The entire story breathed with ease and stuck with blunt force that was earned and never forced. Bravo to the director for orchestrating a very fine production. Wishing them all the best in London.

To Watch a Man Eat is unforgettable - slick, uninhibited, funny and moving - with incredible writing, acting and direction. Do not miss it!

To watch a man eat is a phenomenal production that perfectly encapsulates the complexities of ambition, power and sex. The actors deliver a masterful blend of brutality and hilarity. Leaving the audience both shaken and entertained. The writing is sharp and thought provoking. Hard to believe she is so young!!! Direction was superb. Truly a standout play. Not to be missed

What a totally gripping piece of theatre. Came across it by chance and so lucky that we did. The writing is superb covering a range of human characteristics. Arrogance, evil, jealousy, ambition …. all played brilliantly with pitch perfect dialogue by the three young and marvellous actors. Cannot recommend highly enough. A Fringe must see.

Fantastic and thought provoking. This is different, visceral, and totally absorbing. It's so well written and acted. This is theatre craft at It's best. The test of a good performance is the amount of time one thinks about it afterwards. Hats off to the actors for keeping up the flawless performance despite the background disturbance from neighboring theatres. Well worth £11.00! 5 out 5 stars from us.

"To Watch A Man Eat" is a wonderful in-your-face drama & you get your money's worth here. The examination of two men's lives using the lens of their jobs, one a fire-fighter, the other a finance worker is clever. Add the narcissistic wife of one of the male protagonists & you have an emotional roller-coaster. The ride at times takes your breath away. This is great drama & made all the more exciting by the fact that the writer, director & actors are all in their early twenties; I hope they carry on & do more. Despite their youth (or perhaps because of it) there are real, shocking insights into the human condition exposed in "To Watch a Man Eat". This play will cause you to stop & think. This is what good drama should do, I think.

I saw this show by accident after a cancellation during the big power cut and I'm so glad I did! Brutal and captivating, staging a show full of tightly-controlled huge emotions in an intimate venue makes for a thrilling piece of theatre.

Stumbled across this play on Saturday early evening. What a brilliant hour of theatre. Completely engaging and rooted to my seat from beginning to end. Thoroughly recommend - this won’t stay a Fringe filler for long!

An incredibly written, directed and performed show which had me captivated from the very beginning. Showing a woman’s need for control and a struggling business man’s pressure to climb to the top of the corporate ladder. It’s a must see!

Wow! what a clever, funny, thought provoking show. Not for the fainthearted. A reflection of life, love and loss, with black comedy thrown in. A must see!

Last night was the second time I have watched this brilliant show, the previous time in Prescott. It's superb how the three exceptional actors interact with the audience, the writing is really good and we are drawn into the lives of the three very different people and can't wait to see what else unveils.
I loved the simplicity of the set, lighting and the outfits the characters wore, all red and black.
The show includes mental health, class differences, evil, sex and food.
Mickey is a delightful, funny character who you love immediately.
Andrew is a bastard, played brilliantly and Melissa is evil and controlling.
A show not to be missed!!

A dark uncomfortable piece of Theatre that twists and turns keeping the audience engaged throughout the play. This is combined with a trio of excellent cast actors who bring the characters to life.

It’s entertainingly acted by the cast of three – Lily Walker, George Usher and George Lorimer, whose slobbering over his spare rib dinner will be a memory hard to erase for a few days!
