Description

Following in the footsteps of the great time travellers of the past, present and future, the woman with the purple hat, the painted boots and the little wheelie suitcase invites you to bounce back with her through the years and unpack some of her most memorable Augusts. This is a Fringe show about The Fringe: a time-travelling odyssey through one woman's joys, sorrows, triumphs, disasters and quest to learn from past mistakes. Julia Bolden first landed in Edinburgh in 1979, her head full of dreams. Could this be the year she finally makes them come true?

Warm and funny recounting of the first hand experiences of a Fringe veteran over 25 years as actor, writer. director, flier-er, flier co-ordinator and punter - audience is invited to follow the experiences as they unfold from church floor to solo stage. Delightful

Julia's stories of her involvement with the fringe, on and off the stage, makes for an entertaining and engaging show. Recommended for fringe veterans and newbies.

Julia is a very warm individual that you connect with straight away. She has a relaxed but enchanting way of storytelling.
It was such a lovely way to share her experience of Fringe over the years and the gently audience participation was fun. 5/5

As a first-time Fringe goer it was wonderful to hear Julia’s first-hand experiences.

What a lovely journey through the Fringe over the years. Julia told her story with wit and meaning. Showing us how the Fringe has evolved over time and how some things are just the same. Lovely.

Performers could certainly learn a thing or two from Julia, whose wisdom and experience with the festival knows no bounds. If you have ever been interested in finding out what the Fringe is all about, Purple Hat Theatre’s piece of new writing is your gateway to learning why so many people keep coming back year after year.
