4. “Three of a Kind”
A premier, rock musical with University of Cumbria origins follows the journey of a young diner waitress who is shouldering not only full responsibility for a hospitalized mother but is also carrying vague yet longing memories of a dad long gone. Surrounded by a trio of fun-loving but ever-silly friends, an obsessively nagging boss about to fire her, a handsome new guy in town who immediately wants more than a cup of coffee from her, and an ever-present older customer who shares her passion for banana shakes, Sam travels a journey of a young woman in modern-day America searching for herself, for acceptance and maybe even for love. Book and lyrics by Amy Nic and music by Gregorv Blairr Satti and Rebekah Holly Neilson, “Three of a Kind” compels with its storyline but suffers from lyrics too often full of cliches and forced rhymes. The enthusiastic cast of ten too often over-sing their otherwise talented voices, leading to songs often more screechd than intoned pleasantly .

A very beautiful musical, touching, and fun! The songs were well-written, and the performers were brilliant! The orchestra was a great addition to the show, complementing the storyline. I recommend!

This was a great wee show. The music was fantastic - musicians and actors were excellent. Really good storyline where you got invested in the main characters. Well done to everyone involved in this - thoroughly enjoyed the night :-)

I usually just go to comedy shows at the fringe so this was my first time going to a new musical and I’m so glad I did! The cast were all so talented and really brought the story to life. The story was moving and the characters were relatable. The ensemble really made the diner scenes so keep an eye out for their antics!

Enjoyable musical with heart, better than a lot of pretentious drivel you usually find at the Fringe.

Opening night was incredible. Insanely talented musicians playing a unique score, actors giving their all through every plot twist and emotion. This is a show not to be missed, cannot wait to see where it goes next!
