Description
It's been a bumpy few years in UK politics, and one story is particularly comical: Liz Truss's stint as prime minister. In 44 days, Trussonomics tanked the economy, her cabinet made more U-turns than Mr Bean on a roundabout and, after one meeting, the Queen passed away. Who could be more fitting to tell this story than an all-male a cappella group of nerds from Imperial College London? Not just any group though: the only UK group to have won the ICCAs! Yes, that's the competition in Pitch Perfect. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. I went into the show expecting to laugh at the shitshow of Liz Truss, but I ended up being blown away by how talented the group was, and how well they managed to weave their jokes into every well-chosen song that they parodied. I enjoyed it so much the first time, that I came back to see it again and enjoyed it just as much!

Best performance at the fringe so far. Educational but humorous aspects with a wide variety of jokes all executed to perfection with marvellous delivery. A unique and exciting experience which clearly is the product of much hard work and dedication!

The best performance I’ve seen so far! Loved the humorous take on British politics, very unique and entertaining. All the songs were amazing, and you can really see the sheer hard work and effort put into making this performance. Overall I highly recommend to others :)

A brilliant show, slickly performed, fabulously written, and the vocal talent is genuinely insanely good! A perfect antidote to politics -and a great way to start a day at the fringe

Such fun! A show you cannot miss. Was crying with laughter at every parody song. Extremely well put together, well choreographed and fantastic soloists.

What a fun way to start the day! If you have the chance to see this before the end of the festival then you should buy a ticket. Extremely well put together show with great singing, immense energy, and good humour. Loved every minute!

Fantastic performance. Very funny and in a way cathartic! This group are clearly extremely talented and it’s a gift to have been able to see them this year. Definitely worth going to see!

This show is spectacular! I regret having to leave Edinburgh to not see it again!
After hearing them busking outside my favourite pub and seeing the excellent £44 note flyers, I thought I’d take a punt on this show - expecting lowest common denominator political satire, but boy were my expectations wrong!
Unlike many other A cappella shows at the fringe, the combining of song and cleverly written scenes inbetween give this show a different dimension.
The humour is very intelligent, never straying into vulgar or mean, but rather finding the humours side in so many news story snippets, and there are a delightful amount of excellent references, from those you’d expect in terms of Cheese and Ocado deliveries, to some really brilliant thought out references ranging from British Airways, Anchor Man, John Bercow’s ORDAAAAAAR, and of course the lettuce!
The singing is splendid throughout, there were 1-2 mic slip ups, but the arrangements were very clever and polished. “Does the OBR know” had the audience in stitches and who knew that Lacrimosa would work with beat boxing.. Or that King Charles would rap?!
The format of the show is very well thought out, with the newsreader providing all necessary context so that even someone oblivious to Liz Truss can still enjoy a lot of the show!
This show is simply a must see, and it’s morning start time, together with the excellent energy levels throughout, make it the perfect start to any day at the fringe.

I have seen many a cappella shows but it is safe to say this is the best. Just from the amount of laughs I had, this show is an absolute MUST WATCH. The music is incredible, the script is hilarious and the sheer originality that has gone into this show is just mind blowing. I am so impressed and walked out completely lost for words.
Every single penny is worth it for this show, you will have the best time.

This was entertaining from start to finish. Somehow managed to turn a disastrous time in politics into a farcical comedy with some excellent Acapella singing thrown in. All the songs were beautifully adapted and loved the 2 classic pieces especially the flower duet. Kwasi was absolutely hilarious and great rapping by Charles .
Special mention of course of the musical director who was seen working hard with the group and in the wings at each step of the way.
Well worth seeing!!!

I'm not going to be able to say anything in this review anywhere near as original as this show.
These talented vocalists have taken something truly abhorrent (the 44 days of Luz Truss period in power) and turned it into something sublime.
The quality of imagination, choreography, vision and singing - my goodness the singing! - is superb in this very, very funny show.
The only good thing to come out of her tenure. Almost makes crashing the pound worth it!

Like nothing I have ever seen before! I love a cappella but this took it to the next level... So well arranged, great choreography and a special shout out to the guy doing the beat boxing. Go see it, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely brilliant. Awesome singing and such a funny if rather ironically true storyline. MUST SEE

Seriously - who would think this would be a good idea.
Somehow it was. The vocal harmonies are incredible. The acting just the right level of camp, over the top for a show like this. The enthusiasm and professionalism of every single member of the cast shone through for the whole performance.
I would say that some of the spoken dialogue scenes could have been shortened or had more content as they could drag a little. But this would not stop me from looking out for more from this company.
I go to the Fringe to be entertained. I came out of this show smiling and singing.

Absolutely fantastic show. This group can sing! And they know how to put together a very entertaining and topical show. They go above and beyond the standard collegiate a cappella presentation to include costuming, set changes, and current issues, delivered with great vocal arrangements and humour.

Great dramatic and vocal performances, mordant script. Worthy of a better PA, still a seat I'm glad I sat in. Who knew nerds could be so stylishly amusing?

Absolutely fantastic show - if you can get tickets don't think just buy!!
We went to the first performance and we were not disappointed. Acapella harmony was just incredible, and the show itself was hilarious. A real mix of covers of classic and modern hits. Just get the soloists to sing closer into the mic to perfect the sound balance - which I am sure they have fixed already! Will look out for future Techtonics shows in London.

Fantastic show with great acting and singing throughout - I particularly loved their rendition of One Last Time. Would highly recommend this funny yet culturally sensitive show!

Great show, so much fun! Excellent vocals throughout.

The show I saw was superb. Very good intonation and vocal technique. As a vocal MD I didn’t hear any significant mistakes and the mix was really good. I was very impressed. Plus the inclusion of a comedic through-line gave the show that special something that other acapella shows miss.

Really enjoyed it . The staging and choreography worked surprisingly well and much of the singing was very good. And kudos for the whole idea...
Annabel W 27 days ago
Mostly this was really good and funny with some clever lines. Some songs fit less well and One Last Time was an odd choice given its additional cultural significance - this was an uncomfortable watch. Unfortunately some singers were straining at times and the encore/finale somehow managed not to be in the right key for any of the soloists leading to pitchy and poor singing throughout. To ditch or at least work out a better key for the group.

A fabulously funny genre-crossing A Capella political farce underpinned by a truly talented singing performance. Loves it.
