A totally astounding student show that’s a must-see! The musical scores and lyrics are truly phenomenal student writing, and each of the performers were absolutely excellent. Well done to all involved in producing this wonderful masterpiece and for bringing it to the Fringe!!!

durham student theatre once again takes the cake, as they combined musical theatre with comedy in a snappy and enjoyable 50 minute production. as we approached the venue, my companion asked ‘how are they going to make a musical in 50 minutes?’ the answer i have for them is: flawlessly. this cast was full of hilarious and heartfelt dynamics, with an stand out duo of ‘stage left’ and ‘stage right’. the singing was absolutely spectacular, accompanied by live keys (who was also a put-upon technician, with a masterful use of 4th wall breaks). the portrayal of theatre technicians by actors was stellar, and had my technician accomplice in stitches- being able to align the caricatures of each backstage member with a friend. the music was upbeat and catchy, and the humour always landed just so. the show was written to an incredible standard, and jolie rooks as ‘lights’ gives a standout performance.

I went to see “technically” on my birthday and couldn’t have asked for a better present. The show was absolutely fantastic and as a techie for Newcastle uni theatre society I absolutely loved the concept and the execution. Really really funny throughout with songs that I would genuinely listen to outside of the musical. I loved the lighting design, particularly for the “righty and lefty” song, I thought it was a really cool way of lighting the characters in that scene. “sound” was also one of my favourite characters ever actually and I think I can pinpoint all of them to people I know.
Overall, “technically” was absolutely fantastic and I am deffinetly forgetting things that I really enjoyed but I hope these words are enough to show how much I genuinely loved this show. My only regret is that I had to run off to do tech for my own theatre society show right after this and so couldn’t stay to congratulate you all. But seriously, well done, I hope there is a way to see it again outside of the context of fringe and I hope you have all enjoyed this run. Well done to the techies, backstage, and actors involved in this production, genuinely amazing.

The BEST show at fringe! The writing is phenomenal, the acting impeccable and the songs are captivating! A must watch for all- techie or not!

A very funny, fast-paced show, with cheery upbeat music. Definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved this show. We feel that all cast members should go along to watch this to get an understanding and appreciation of the technical team without them the show can’t happen. As tech’s and performers ourselves we recognised lots of the points that were made and we found it brilliant and funny and thought that the whole team did a fantastic job representing the unsung heroes. Well done to you all

A witty and brilliantly created musical which shines the spotlight (no pun intended) on those too often unsung heroes backstage. Definitely recommend going to see this one, you won't regret it!!

The fastest 50 minutes of Fringe! An impressive first for the writers & a great score full of catchy music all sung beautifully. I attended 1st night & am not surprised it was a full house. And, if the audience energy & reaction was anything to go by, a good show was had by all & not just by me! It’s a hard recommend for anyone looking for an original musical full of heart & humour, delivered with passion & oodles of talent by a cast who are clearly all in, yet not taking themselves too seriously.

Really loved this show. A well written script with some great one liners that even as a non-techie I found funny. Good songs and well performed. Would recommend.

Stand out show of fringe for me. Well written, superb performances, and the audience were howling laughing. Sold out first night - speaks volumes! Go see it while you can. You won’t regret it.

Went to see Technically: A Musical with a group ranging from age 22 to 84 last night, only one “techie” amongst us but we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Great story concept, catchy musical numbers with very clever and funny lyrics, wonderfully performed by an engaging cast. Would highly recommend whether you have worked on or behind the stage or if you don’t know anything about theatre at all! It’s great fun, I loved it and want to go again tonight!

Great characters, good songs and plenty of funny references. This is a good musical if you have worked backstage in a theatre. I probably wouldn't recommend it if you haven't.

Brilliant musical! Very relatable for those who work in theatre tech and a peek behind the curtain for those who don’t. 10/10 would recommend.
