Description

Addicted to any mobile devices or know others who are? If so, Wen-Jen Huang's restlessly swift, hot-wired dance quartet should produce jolts of recognition. Her dynamic new work is based upon the contemporary socio-cultural phenomenon of phubbing (paying more attention to one's mobile, etc. than to the people you're with). Guided by the choreographer's laser-like kinetic intelligence, the dancers slice and slide through space with a desperate, unpredictable energy. Fair warning: their self-absorbed, pressure-cooked state of being could be both exciting and distressing. European premiere.

These are the best of the best the world's contemporary dance artists, both their innovation of choreography and virtuosity of movement. To get to see their work in person --so far from Taiwan-- was a privilege and a pleasure.

Also, what an unforgettable way to drill into the massive upheaval the advent and now addiction to personal devices has caused on our cultures and societies, across generations and the planet. Lost Connection provides imagery, physicality, and meaning to the reality of living online that is chilling, cautionary, and at the same time strangely human.

If you like dance, this is an easy recommendation.
If you don't, there's still impressive skills and intriguing imagery to enjoy.

My only criticism is that I found it a bit repetitive at times, with recurring themes that didn't add or explore anything new, so it dragged on a bit.

This was excellence in style and performance, but while it had substance, I felt it needed a bit more refinement to be truly outstanding.

Powerful, stunning, beautiful, emotive. Strong feelings are provoked by the conflicts in the movements in the piece, makes you think about addiction in technology’s impact on identify, behaviours and perceptions.

Stunning movement and mega talented dancers, the use of light and costumes has a major impact. I'm so glad I got to see this piece. Highly recommend!

Beautiful movement. Meaningful. You will be moved. Intelligent choreographic choices. The dancers are phenomenal.

My best show so far. Excellent performers, very clear message, effective delivery. All this in a very atmospheric setting. I call them the cellphone zombies.

Captivating performance supported by very strong lighting design. Beautifully choreographed, well rehearsed production that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole runtime.
Highly recommended *****

Electrifying!! This was totally amazing and left me spellbound at what the human body is capable of in dance/movement.

A fast-paced and agile performance that speaks to the heart and reality of our relationships today, and to the face we show to the world and the reality we keep hidden.
