Description

A family show like no other from a company that specialises in creating original, innovative theatrical stories. Plucky young Hope lives in a drought-ridden time and place. Then a chance encounter with a resilient drop of water sends her on an adventurous and life-changing quest. Full of inviting, imagination-tickling charm, director Hsin-Huei Hung's production is a feat of non-verbal, environmentally-conscious storytelling ingeniously led by Foley sound. Bonus feature: many of the props and set-pieces will be locally-sourced. European premiere.

Little Drops of Rain was a lovely, impressionistic story of a little girl in pursuit of a friendly water drop in her dry land. The live sound design - cleverly made with found objects and simple tactile movements - combine with a beautiful original score to build the emotion, along with the fluid motions of the actors. All the seams show, so young viewers can glimpse the creation of sound and puppetry - and viewers patch the story together with their imagination. Here's what my 9 year old had to say: "I thought this was a really cute little show to watch and everyone really loved it."

Little Drops of Rain is another heartwarming piece from Taiwan Season, perfect for all ages! If you've seen their play last year 'The way back' you'll see similar, very clever way of storytelling. This time the audio is created with a mix of digital and live created sounds with the use of a variety of different items like bells and sponges. The voice of each character is made by the performers themselves and they managed to give so much personality to all the depicted characters in the story.
The story begins on a beach that is filled with rubbish then moves on to the story of a young girl who tries to catch water for herself and for her plants in a playful manner including wee clouds.
The puppets were adorable and full of life thanks to the artists.
This play is such a gem, I can only recommend! *****
