Description

Saraya Haddad presents her one-woman play about the time she performed a play she doesn’t remember. Join her in this fictional retelling of the astonishing time she played Ariel in Shakespeare's The Tempest, whilst spiked. One minute she was in her campus bar, about to leave for the show, the next… blackout. Watch her piece together the past 13 hours, pushing herself back up to the surface and out of the spiker's control. Laugh with her, and cry with her, as she notices the uncanny parallels between Shakespeare's play and the experience of having her bodily autonomy washed away.

Spiked is an enlightening play by a sole female performer, who highlights her personal experience of being spiked whilst at university. Saraya expresses her own individual thoughts, emotions and demonstrates her bizarre actions when under the influence of an unknown substance. Her performance demonstrates a vulnerable victim’s perspective, expressing her significant concerns about the loss of time and memory, and her worry about the dangers to her health and subsequent ongoing effects. This show brings home the scary truth of this anonymous crime which can have fatal consequences. Everyone needs to watch this performance, and be aware of the dangers. Saraya performed magnificently to raise awareness of a real life problem. Well done also for raising awareness for “Spike Aware UK” and for donating proceeds from Edfringe to the charity. Excellent show - well recommended.

This is a very well-written and powerful one-woman-show which is as comic and delightful as it is thought-provoking and profound. The performance is witty, energetic, and timely and is certainly a MUST SEE show at this year’s Fringe!

Powerful and funny, with a really lovely - and helpful! - performer. And all the better for not being affiliated with Spiked Magazine ;=) Solidarity to Saraya on your continuing campaign =)

Fantastic show covering an incredibly important topic. Really enjoyed the one woman aspect and the time flew with lighter moments amongst the dark content.

A brilliant one woman show with a raw look at a current topic. Great imagery in the script so make sure to get a front row seat!!

A raw and informative look at spiking told through a well-crafted blend of personal accounts and official data. Sound and light design bring a punch to the vulnerable performance of Saraya that left me feeling unsettled but wanting to hear more. All of it culminating in a maelstrom of tender emotions and alarming truths about the culture we live in that you should definitely go and see.

A really informative show. It had ots of facts I didn't know about spiking, all told from the very personal and honest perspective of the artist. The show has a disjointed narrative which reflected what it is like to be spiked alongside some interesting and creative monologues. Really informative about a timely topic.
