One of the kindest, most heart warming shows I’ve seen this year. Soness is not just the voice of Hello Kitty but the voice for all those who face life’s challenges unflinchingly and yet with grace. This hour is full of humour, joy, a bit of sadness, and most of love.

Her show is amazing!! I highly recommend it. Her natural cheerfulness and sense of comedy are absolutely valuable. And above all, her voice is extremely attractive! I am Japanese, she does voice work for English learning materials for Japanese people, and I have learned English from her voice! :-0 She has a perfect understanding of Japanese culture and if you want to hear some of her brilliant stories, be sure to go to the venue!! 日本語も完璧な彼女のショーは最高でした!おすすめです!

A great show, she is such a warm and fun person. We were curious about her since she is the voice of Hello Kitty but what made us enjoy the show was her charm and story-telling, could easily listen to her for hours. We also received a lovely fortune slip as a gift for our donation. She should be big everywhere and not just Japan!

I could have listened to Soness for hours. Seriously I wish the show had been longer, her stories about growing up with in a challenging environment, ultimately finding a loving and supportive husband (among the duds) and making a life and career in Japan were funny, fascinating and vulnerable. I love the way she involved the whole audience, wanting to know who we were and make us feel comfortable.

Popped into the venue at the last minute turned out to be a full-house show! An absolute blast. The show was very engaging, Soness is very good at making an interactive friendly atmosphere. Her story both in Japan and the US, especially why she became big in Japan (literally) was quite unique and very interesting. I would recommend her show to anyone who wants to laugh at her funny experiences and be impressed by how life is magical!
日本語もペラペラでめっちゃ面白かった★

This is a really fun show for anyone, whether you've been to Japan or not, love Japan or have never heard of it! Soness has a light-hearted, fun presence as she takes you through her childhood in the US and then adulthood in Japan. As someone who's spent a lot of time in East Asia, so much of what she said resonated with me, and of course cracked me up. I highly recommend this show!

Soness has a wonderful ability to balance the comedic with the serious in her show, able to switch back and forth easily.

She's also very engaging with her audience throughout, able to respond quickly to reactions or statements and include them in her show.

The balance of her American life and Japanese life is great and shows her cultural comedic moments even more.

I'd highly recommend those her are interested in Japan, America, or a welcoming energy comedic show to check Big in Japan out!

Absolutely amazing show! Soness has the warmest, most engaging personality, and has this wonderful ability to bring people together.

In her show, she seamlessly switches between moments of silliness and ones of true vulnerability, and neither feels out of place with the tone or arc of the show.

To sum it up, come to this show - leaving it, you're sure to feel happier than when you came in!

Captivating true and personal life storytelling and odd facts about Japan. She connects with her audience! She has a magnetic personality, a hidden gem at the EdFringe and a must-see.

Sweet, touching, funny, Soness brings humour from what could be a tragic and traumatic childhood living in a car, running away to Japan to escape the multiple personalities of her mother, only to embrace multiple personalities herself, as the voice actor for Hello Kitty and a myriad other anime characters. Soness builds a lovely rapport with her audience, and even gives away festival fans to those who support her show. This is heart-warming, family-friendly comedy, with a touching ending. You’ll love Soness.

The Quinntessential Review (4/5 stars) 158 days ago

Ultimately, if ‘Big in Japan’ is more comedic storytelling than standup, with a healthy dollop of love for the crowd, it still offers one of the most genial hours on offer at this year’s Fringe.
