Description

This world-premiere musical explores how a shared moment of stress among strangers can bring them to form a fast bond. Rhona and Mark have one of these moments on a bench near the hospital where they have both been visiting their ill fathers, which over time brings them together as friends. Their emotional journey takes them through childhood stories and different ethical standpoints on caring for aging parents, until they discover something that changes everything. Composer and lyricist Jamie Langridge weaves together unique orchestral songs across genres including rock, ballads and jazz in his Fringe debut.

An intimate and poignant human story with an interesting twist. Strong characterisation and lovely musical arrangement.

We loved it. An impressive score covering many styles, strong performances from the two actors and some great use of complex harmonies that you don't expect. The story was well presented and I wasn't expecting the twist! Despite the scenes being short and separated by a week or several days, you could tell the actors had done their 'homework' - there was a continuity and we could almost see what had happened in the time between the scenes. The sound and lighting were also very good for a small fringe venue. Well worth going to watch if you have time.

From the start you are captivated by the story and the characters. Great songs well sung with emotion. Clever writing and great use of the small space. Don’t miss the chance to meet Mark and Rhona and see their new relationship blossom.

This was a very touching and personal story that charts the highs and lows of family many of us can relate to. The two characters' relationship develops beautifully throughout the different songs - highly recommended.

A wonderful new writing performed beautifully by the two actors. A really charming look at what it means to be the child of aging parents, and the complex emotions and challenges that this faces

Entertaining with a diverse and engaging score. The story feels bigger than the stage it takes place on. The actors are strong singers and convey complex emotions with small details. Especially meaningful for people that have dealt with aging parents.

So charming & a plot twist of draw dropping, mouth covering with hand proportions. Tear in my eye walking out the venue
