Description

When things go wrong in the real world, why not write a fanfiction where they go right? In Slow Burn, meet friends Yasmine Nugent, Archie Ostroff III and Willa Paddington, who find refuge in a fantastical fashion. As Yasmine channels her passion for fanfiction to cope with the turmoil surrounding her and her friends, she finds that her writing holds more weight than she thought. By blurring reality and fantasy, this trio confronts personal challenges and discovers their voice and resilience. Themes of identity and self-discovery intertwine as our characters navigate life’s complexities through their love of fanfiction.

A genuine heartfelt show for anyone who knows what it is to have a crush. I smiled and laughed the whole way through; I bet you will too!

Slow Burn is a rom-com perfect for anyone who’s ever been on BookTok, readers of fanfiction, or enjoyers (openly or privately) of Sarah J Maas’ ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ book series. Incredibly fun from start-to-finish, it’s teeming with references, but still rooted in an intriguing premise of writing-turned-reality. My jaw hurt from smiling and laughing so much, so it’s well worth the watch!

A humorous storyline that was brought to life and executed brilliantly by the talented young actors. I laughed continuously and would thoroughly recommend!

Such a joyous play about the silliness of crushes and being a young person in love!

If it’s pure entertainment you’re after, Slow Burn may well fit the bill. Younger members of the audience loved it, so who am I to argue with that? Sometimes you just need a laugh.
