Description

It's Sleeping Beauty, but the roles are reversed. Phillip has been cursed and will die on his 18th birthday, and Aurora is set on saving him. Denial, manipulation, secrets and Alternate Aurora – a mysterious character from the original story – are hindering, helping and hurting our dear characters as the clock ticks: for not only Phillip's survival, but Alternate Aurora's time in this story. Friends are made, families are found, and a happy ending is bound to happen. Just not for everyone. This world-premiere original musical will keep audience members hearing the music long after.

A fair attempt at a new musical (with a twist on a classic story), but unfortunately I think it needs a lot of revisions before it is ready for a public audience (especially somewhere with as many new musicals as the Fringe).

There were some witty performances, and flashes of lovely songwriting, but the story was quite confusing for the first time viewer (maybe too many characters?), and the songs felt shoe-horned in at times.

It’s a shame as the cast really did a good job with the material they were given.
