Description

Writer and comedian Ben Fallaci strips down and gets vulnerable while recounting how he lands broken and stuck in a geriatric shower chair. With irreverence and self-deprecation, Fallaci adds humour to a tale about a toxic friendship, slippery events, and a broken ankle. Where better to come clean than in the shower?

Ben feels like character from the Secret History universe in real life, with a dark sense of humor. It’s a fascinating tale of growing up queer, the scars born out of survival, and hope at the end of the tunnel.

Hilarious and gut-wrenchigly sad: the true experience of gay men. Fallaci commands the room masterfully, and moved me to tears of both laughter and pathos. I felt so seen in a way that queer media so rarely manages to do, because they are afraid to show the real gay misery and messiness. I commend him for his bravery for deciding to share his story, and for the comic mastery and sensitivity with which he tells it. A must see for all gay men, and for anyone who cares about hearing their true stories.

Charming, funny, honest, relatable and engaging. A one man show that is presented with flair in an original and witty way that is equally heartbreaking and life affirming. Will be thinking about this for a while.

I absolutely loved this unapologetic performance, truly heartwarming, vulnerable and entertaining. Ben’s storytelling was electric and it was a joy to watch his narrative journey.

There's abundant warmth and gentleness in this show that I found particularly engaging. A quietly defiant pride in survival and growth is delivered with genuine emotion. Incidentally the lack of LGBTQ+ in the tags and description meant I nearly missed this, which would have been a shame.

A provocative, playful and pulsating show steeped with humour from start to end. But the lighter bits just make the darker bits hit that much harder. If you love unapologetic queerness (including all the difficult and ugly parts) and incredibly crafted storytelling and performing, then this show is for you.

Saw this show a week ago and that plot twist at the end still has me thinking, "Damn, that was clever."

A moving story delivered by electric performer.
Best show I’ve seen at Fringe!

This is a story well told, by an engaging performer who brought a very select audience with him on his journey of self discovery…I felt included and entertained and to lay oneself bare literally and metaphorically in an intimate space added to the sense in which we, as audience members, weren’t just spectators, but were confidantes and witnesses to Ben’s process of self actualisation…he is brave, gentle, funny and warm and I sense that his vulnerability will remain with me as a reminder that we’re all still in the classroom, should we choose to acknowledge it, however many lessons we already think we’ve got under our belts! Definitely worth your attention.

Well written and engaging monologue, delivered by a talented actor (think a kind of tall, gay, Robert Redford - with a hint of eye shadow!). Funny and moving. Highly recommended.

Great story telling and entertaining. Ben us able to crrate vivid pictures. He has a vulnerability and charm which is endearing.

This is a wonderful performance about a young and insecure boy, who goes through a lot of crazy experiences during his younger years ending up hurting his ankle at a party. This gives him time to think things over and become the person he wants to be. And with that also a self-confidence.
I loved this performance and recommend it to everyone.

I went to this as I was in the area at the time and fancied some different ‘comedy’. American privileged and entitled narcissists ‘finding themselves’ usually really annoy me. This guy didn’t. He is insightful, funny, and I liked his tragi-humour. He use of his alter egos was interesting and I think this man should write as well as perform. I’d read his stuff. Definitely worth an an hour of your life.

Beautiful, vulnerable, funny, relatable. Friends and I had a great time at this show last night.

Very believable, frank, open and brave; but also very funny, positive and life-affirming.
