As a first timer to this show, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was packed, we came in last and had third row seats - me and the two kids had no hope of seeing it as everyone on the first two rows were so tall! It’s our fault for being last in, but it certainly made it less enjoyable, as I was constantly straining to get a glimpse of the characters - I gave up eventually. It sounded quite funny at times, but some jokes were forced and didn’t always come naturally. I enjoyed a few jokes that were aimed at the ‘millennial’ audience. The kids didn’t really get much of what was going on, but I enjoyed it despite not seeing much, and I would recommend it; it was a fun start to the day, and I think the actors were really great, giving 100% throughout.

I was late and therefore missed out on the breakfast, but the Shakespeare was lovely! An innovative, fun take on one of my favorite plays. Could have benefitted from a slightly larger cast, as the doubling was a little confusing.

Enjoyed this year’s performance very much after not enjoying last year’s quite so much. It is a must for me every year and others as well by the amount of raised hands in the audience when asked if they had been to Shakespeare for Breakfast before! I did a quick refresher of the Tempest so was a tad prepared. Coffee and croissant welcome as usual after an early start. Well done to all the actors. Loved Ariel!

A very enjoyable, funny play. Fast paced, modern take on The Tempest. Very accessible for a younger audience. Bonus breakfast went down well!.

Silly mash up of bits of the Tempest, don't go if you want to hear Shakespeare, but probably good for kids.

Accessible Shakespeare with a croissant and a hot drink; what’s not to like? My 9yo’s first Shakespearean theatre; he was slightly confused by the gender swap leads and the lack of a storm but was then happily swept up by the performance and enjoyable silliness.

Clever, witty and high-energy. A great way to start the day. Highly recommended.

A great way to start the day.

A joyful way to start the day, this Tempest is fun and fast paced. The actors for Ariel and Miranda were definitely standouts, their energetic performances lifting the whole show!

We have had this down as a must see show for many years. But I agree with a previous reviewer. It has lost the wit of previous years where the actors threw out lines from many Shakespeare plays to produce the new play . Who could forget The Taming of the Shoes!

Pastry and a morning brew, a great way to start the day. This particular show works for some, less so for others. Shakespeare purists will see quite a lot of classic Tempest references missing in this performance, but those looking for a light-hearted intro to one of the bards' greatest pieces will find this a joyful and accessible experience. Will remain a perennial favourite on our fringe list.

Quite enjoyable but not up to previous years. Generally a bit flat

This Fringe institution is always a safe bet for an entertaining show to kick off your day, and includes a croissant and coffee/tea/fruit juice.

This modern take on the Shakespeare story was fun and we enjoyed it. It did lack any sign of the actual Tempest of the title though!

Much better than last year but still not quite at the level I remember from maybe 5 or so years ago. Full disclosure, I know almost nothing about The Tempest and that likely affected my enjoyment. But, there was too much of the 'in' student joking for me. Perhaps I'm getting too old...

But, look, what else is there to do at 10:00, with tea and a croissant thrown in? You won't regret getting your day off to a start here.

A great morning show, a wonderful way to start the day.

It was objectively fine for the price. But what happened to the chaos, wit, energy, and low-production value inventiveness and pazazz of the pre-pandemic team? Shakespeare for Breakfast is a shadow of its former self, riding on the coattails of the sharp comic brains that made it a real must-see. I think I'm done with it now.

Brilliant show on Saturday morning, really funny and modern take on the Tempest, well acted with great comic timing. we were in a group of all ages and we all loved it.

What a great start to the Fringe this was. Breakfast and brilliant entertainment. I love the modern and funny take on The Tempest.
This is already on my list of shows for next year.

It is a fun and energetic foray into Shakespeare that is family friendly and accessible for all, no matter what your knowledge of the Bard.
