Description
Starring Tony Award-winner Frances Ruffelle and West End leading man Norman Bowman. The Scot and The Showgirl is a true(ish) wee musical thingamajig about a perfectly imperfect relationship that began 28 years ago at Edinburgh Waverly train station. She, a Broadway icon and Edinburgh Fringe survivor. He, a shy Scottish musical theatre lover. Together, with their crackin’ band, they celebrate their quirky romance in a touchingly funny song cycle – from Brigadoon to Broadway and from Scotland to Sondheim via Costello, Bacharach, The Proclaimers and more. Expect love, laughter and tartan. Incredible fun! The pair are unbelievably talented. Only at the Fringe can you see a Tony winner sing goofy love songs in such an intimate venue. Unfortunately, said venue has terrible climate control, so it got very hot.

Two fantastic voices, telling a great story... What's not to like?

A wonderful performance by two hugely talented stars of the musical stage! Let yourself relax into the tale they weave of their love story and its ups & downs and you won't be disappointed. This charismatic couple bring an energy to their show that will have you toe-tapping and singing along by the time they're done. Don't miss this one!

Easily the best show I have seen this year, if you want something to bring a smile to your face then give this one a visit, I may even go again, fantastic voices on both these talented people.

Two west end performers at the top of their game. This wonderfully eclectic mix of show tunes (some non show tunes) creates a lovely story from start to finish, drawing you into the very personal love story.
The Scot & The Showgirl is one of these gems that comes along so rarely that this is really one not to be missed.
There's also a wonderful surprise right at the end of the show, a must for all lovers of music.

Lovely lovers singing love songs. It's a melody medley, a kilted cabaret kind of way to kill an hour with a cabernet

Wow! What a fabulous show yesterday at the Fringe. An eclectic mix of songs including many of my favourite, rarely performed show tunes. Two very talented performers - and a thrill to see and hear the original Eponine! Lovely to chat to Norman and Frances afterwards. A must for musical theatre fans! ❤️

Great show, story and amazing singing. Yes some of the songs are a bit obscure but didn't detract for me. Would have been nice to have a programme with set list. Very excited to hear Frances Ruffelle sing her "Only in my dreams" as encore.

Loved this show that is a clever use of songs from musicals/stage/screen to tell the life story of the performers. If you like your musicals this is one to do!!
Yes! it is probably too small a venue to contain the crowd, so it does get warm. Just wear less clothes and go see this!!!!

West End stars Frances Ruffelle and Norman Bowman are incredible together, great storytelling through a perfect mix of songs both humorous and emotional. Their voices are amazing, and the trio band backing them up is top-notch. Highly recommend catching this show!

What can I say. A show of this calibre is a a rare treat. The singers Frances Ruffelle and Norman Bowman are utterly compelling and charismatic. As they take us on a top speed journey through the ups and downs of their relationship with oodles of comedy in their brilliant witty script, we are left holding tight with tapping feet and endless laughs while their fantastic band underpin the proceedings with top notch playing. The wonderful arrangements, mostly by pianist and MD Ryan McKenzie were beautifully and sensitively performed. The Scot and The Showgirl is a fight-for-a-ticket show! Do it now before you can’t!

Very engaging talented performers with a fantastic band.

I'm afraid this one didn't do it for me. Talented performers but mostly very obscure song choices. They did get a standing ovation from a few people so they obviously loved it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. It probably didn't help that it was also VERY warm and stuffy in the auditorium!

Fabulous show with a pair of great performers. Interesting choice of songs and they cleverly tell a story of a relationship. Fantastic musicians accompanying them particularly cello player! All in all a most enjoyable show, would recommend!!

Unfortunately I didn’t enjoy the show as the music wasn’t for me. I did see other people in the audience enjoying it. I found the music dull and not uplifting. I have seen better shows at the festival!

Brilliant show, highly recommend. Their voices are amazing and the venue is small so its a real treat to see people of this calibre in a relatively intimate environment. The performance is top notch with masses of energy and humour - a real feel good experience.
My friend booked it and so I had no expectations which felt like a double win!
