I saw this show tonight and i was absolutely incredible.
Such an original idea with such a wave of nostalgia.
the writing was incredibly impressive and the acting was just brilliant. After keeping updated with the show via instagram, i thought the social engagement was amazing, the digital art that went to promote the production was so fitting for the throwback/ nostalgic feeling.
the performance was fresh, funny, heartwarming and incredibly worth the watch.
i hope something similar will be on next year to enjoy, with the same impressive team.
10/10⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sammy Blew Up The Toilet was one of the most enjoyable shows I've seen in a long time. It adds elements of nostalgia while remaining a comedy, and no matter which character you're focusing on, you'll be drawn into the story. The direction, tech, and actors all played brilliant parts and worked together as one flawlessly. Whether you find relatability in Sammy, or love the dynamic between the Dinner Gent and Marian, you will not regret watching this show. I'd 100% rate this 10 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wow! This show was amazing, such an original show I loved the physical theatre and found it hilarious and especially the “hidey-tig” scene, brought back lots of relatable primary school memories for me and my friends. Such a wonderful cast

"Sammy Blew Up a Toilet" is ensemble theatre done right. Packed full of energy from start to finish, Aric Hanscomb-Ryrie's writing transports the audience back to the early 2000s, a simpler time for Scottish primary school pupils where our biggest heartache was losing 5 minutes of our precious Golden Time. Hanscomb-Ryrie, who also plays Azza, manages to seamlessly blend nostalgia and heartfelt moments with fun and outright craziness. Complimented wonderfully by Jake (Ronan MaColla), Sammy (Zander Mistry) and a wealth of characters throughout the skilled ensemble, this production is a must watch! 'Sammy' has been produced by the Crunch Collective who are a company destined to make waves in the Scottish theatre industry and beyond.

A highly energised and hugely engaging coming of age story which has a real sense of integrity and humour. In the tradition of great Scottish coming of age tales like ‘Decky Does a Bronco’ ‘Yellow Moon’ and ‘ Gregory’s Girl’ this show gives us a real sense of what growing up can feel like for boys within a primary school setting and how these relationships can shape us for life. Like a Scottish male Bluey played with authenticity and joy by a talented cast. If it weren’t for the start time a show that could really resonate with kids as well as adults

A fantastic play that reflects something as human as maturing and taking responsibility for our actions, that we are all a perpetuation of what we learn during our life and how time changes our perspective. Very excited to see how this magnificent playwright and Crunch Collective will surprise us next Fringe

Easily one of the most original and fun things I’ve seen this Fringe! The energetic cast and simple staging lets the story really shine through, and what a brilliant script and excellent directing choices throughout! I would see it again if I could!

Make sure to catch this one!

This show is fantastic!! From the moment it began the energy was through the roof and there it stayed - which is rather difficult to do! You can tell the cast and crew have put their everything into this show and seriously care about its success, and the result is a witty, hilarious, and purely enjoyable show. It's exactly what I love about the Fringe and we need more shows like this one, thank you for a brilliant night!

An absolutely fantastic (and nostalgic) story about a small child blowing up a toilet. Soaked in references to early 2000s Edinburgh and Scottish school life, Sammy Blew Up A Toilet is a hilarious show that I urge everyone to see. Full of great performances, my favourite being Sammy himself, a ridiculously funny script and a story obviously written with love and detail. Can't wait for what comes next from Crunch Collective, as this is an astounding start.

Sammy Blew Up a Toilet is a truly incredible show - it is hard to pinpoint what about it is most worth seeing. A beautifully thought provoking script from Aric Hanscomb-Ryrie that is as heartbreaking as it is hilarious and carefully considered directing from Ayden Macdonald create a compelling story about friendship, provocation and difference that leave you aching to know what happened following the events of the play. The characters are brought to life by a truly stellar cast of young actors with talent beyond their years. For them to reach into the past of school-days gone by and bring forth emotions and characteristics every member of the audience related to on some level was spell binding to watch. These complex characters were understood thoroughly and performed beautifully - shout out to Aric and Zander in particular. The other actors had a huge part to play in this and brought thoughtfulness and hilarity in much appreciated doses. The Crunch Collective has shown that they are a production company positively bursting with pure creative talent and are definitely one to watch! It makes you think, makes you feel - go watch it!!!

Wow. Boom. What an unbelievably truthful, nostalgic, believable, heartfelt production. The first congratulation goes to the book. From the minute this show starts you are in the capable hands of director Aydan Macdobald and writer Aric Hanscombe-Ryrie, with each joke, each grass, each taunt handled with the most accurate vernacular that I’ve ever heard in relation to Scottish primary education! The action of the play harkened back to my own childhood. Everyone knew a Sammy, everyone felt like Azza, and the emotion that inspired within me was truly powerful. The young characters are played with grace and appropriate childishness, with even the most juvenile of moments not seeming to crass or cringeworthy - indeed the opposite - there were large portions of this show where I was absolutely buckled by the clever delivery of lines, accompanied with the witty sound design. I felt, strangely, like I was an insider in this production, that all the jokes were crafted individually for each member of the audience. There is not a second of this show that feels undercooked - the tasteful design of the show, the school uniforms, the toilet set piece, the little dressing items that change the bare stage from scene to scene are absolutely what the fringe is all about - low budget, high quality shows like this should be at the forefront of the Edinburgh theatre community. This show made me laugh, remember, and above all, feel, like nothing else I have seen in recent years. I congratulate this fantastically energised group of performers, with special mention going to Aric Hanscomb-Ryrie, Aydan Macdonald, Zander Mistry and Zoë Maunder. Take a bow, guys. For those of you looking for a reason to see this show, I hope that this has convinced you, if not, look only to the standing ovation. Congratulations!

Fringe Hidden Gem. Witty, thought provoking and interesting writing combined with stellar performances across the board make for an intensely entertaining night at the theatre. The actors playing Azza and Sammy in particular display an acting masterclass to a level beyond that of the Edinburgh fringe, they take you on a journey of epic proportions which have you laughing out and questioning deeper themes thoughtfully. They are supported by a cast of immensely talented actors- with the actors playing Jake and Archie also delivering a performance that outdoes itself- there are actually too many unsung heroes to mention. From the hilarious janitor, to the multi rolling of sammys parents and Azza’s mother. The costume is subtle and works well, the music is nostalgic and everything pieces together to truly create compelling. You do not want to miss this one.

Razor sharp writing and flawless acting. Exploring the differences and similarities we all navigated with our pals at primary school - it was as funny as it was heartbreaking.

I had no idea where this play was leading but it held me throughout and had me totally absorbed. It was as powerful and thought provoking as it was laugh out loud funny.
