Description
In the heart of chaos and conflict, against the backdrop of war, a couple embark on a seemingly ordinary task: assembling an IKEA wardrobe. Through the act of building – their furniture, life and relationship – they discover that even in the darkest moments, there's hope. The audience, assuming the role of a supportive community, becomes integral to the couple's journey, and with new spatial sound technology, sound becomes a living presence in the story. RTFM investigates the juxtaposition of build and loss, offering a powerful exploration of humans' resilience in the face of adversity. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. This show is fantastic! The performers put their all in to their performance, taking the audience through a rollercoaster of emotions. Like nothing I’ve seen before, building flat pack furniture has never been so entertaining! One not to be missed!

I loved this show, as did all of the members of my group. I laughed and I cried and I was incredibly moved by the themes of the show. It was a very unique theatre experience and very thought provoking. Both actors gave a brilliant performance. I would highly recommend everyone to watch this show and wish I could see it again.

I became totally engrossed in the emotional, dramatic and comedic theme of this outstanding play. The roller coaster that the actors took me on was full of tears, laughs and amazement.
What a thought provoking play, one of which I was able to share, discuss and swap (as there were many) ideas and opinions with friends also in the audience.
Performances of David and Olivia were fabulous!!
Catch this if you can as I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Got 'flyered' by the producers of this show (very politely) when we were looking for shows in our hotel's lobby. Sounded interesting so we gave it a go. One of the best decisions of our week in Edinburgh. Great show, and very different for anything else we have seen,

This was one of the most poignant shows I've seen at EdFringe 2024. I had some good laughs at first before I became immersed in the backdrop of the work and realized what was actualy going on. This is a very funny, highly challenging, immerse piece of theater that struck me to my core.

This made me laugh and cry in equal measure. Excellent comic timing produced genuine laugh out loud moments, followed by poignant, heartfelt emotion as we realised what was going on in the outside world. The physical aspects of the play greatly enhanced the storyline, as did the sound effects and voiceover. A very human portrayal of a difficult subject - and we could all relate to the building of the IKEA wardrobe! Would highly recommend this play.

Funny, moving, and thought-provoking in equal measure. A piece from the heart that goes to the heart, beautifully portrayed by the two actors. I can't recommend highly enough.
Added 11th August. I loved this piece so much that I went back a second time to reflect on the messaging. So it comes as a total surprise to see the review from Sascha that accuses the piece of being Zionist propaganda. I certainly didn't see it that way, and I can only assume that Sasha did not stay until the culmination of the show which espoused unity and togetherness and a rejection of hate. This message is particularly relevant in the current climate. As for the setting, my interpretation was that the war was a metaphor for loss/trauma, and was not rooted in any particular conflict. In fact, the reference could relate to any modern conflict, or even (excepting the presence of flat pack furniture) any historical conflict; so Sascha choosing to root it in one particular modern context appears like a determined effort to take offence at a piece that promotes love and togetherness.

As someone that tries to read the f…ing manual and still struggles to complete the job, l now have a completely different view on the task and how many emotions it can involve when circumstances are different. It gave me laughters and tears through a journey across the importance of the ordinary when we don’t have the luxury to call it so. Great use of sound technology and sublime acting which really helped deliver the importance of the message. This show and these people deserve big things

Read the manual of life! A new psychological therapy! 1+1…
Building a closet is much more than you think! IKEA closet serves as a tool to help a couple struggling with war. Excellent choice of actors leads to emotional turmoil throughout the show - from laughing to crying. The scenes are taken from our daily routine! Matching sound effects take us forth and back into the war. The show involves the audience and even though it was over after an hour we didn’t want leave the place until the closet is ready!
Go and help the actors finish their task!
Highly recommended!!!

A very touching approach to a hard / impossible situation in life. Actors
succeed to transfer their emotions in
words and in great phisical
motions.Sounds are completing
the special atmosphere. The ending is full of hope .
The colaboration with the audience is excellent.
