What a show! Those familiar with her alter ego as half of Garfunkel & Oates will know what to expect from the songs (Tom Lehrer meets Weird Al Yankovic) and won’t be disappointed. So outrageously funny that you miss some bits because her lightning-fast delivery means the audience is still laughing from three jokes back. However, this show is genuinely emotional….and I don’t mean the usual award-bating final 5 minutes of a fringe comedy show where the heart rending but relatable coup de gras is delivered. This is really raw, heartbreaking and not directly relatable for most people. It’s more her courage in telling the tale that makes you want to hug her. My girlfriend was handing tissues out to the entire front row and I even gave one to Riki herself. There are genuine tears in this show.

That said, you will leave on a huge high. You know how some standing ovations are started by one person and others slowly & shambolically join in, while others are just everyone springing to their feet in unstoppable applause? Have a guess which one she got.

Laughter and tears about a subject rarely mentioned.
Very moving performance.
Thank you

I was drawn to the show by the poster - I had no idea of Riki's amazing professional background! What a joy this show was. The combination of fantastic writing, performing and stagecraft absorbed me into the story completely. I was with Riki every step of the way; what a gift of charm and vulnerability.

Riki delivers a continuation on her brilliant musical comedy skills and furthermore adds heaps of depth and vulnerability.
Phenomenally paced storytelling and charm!
I have to express my gratitude for sharing these stories and emotions with us and I am so glad that Riki got her happy ending.

Riki is one of a kind. An incredibly moving show, as well as being absolutely hilarious. I honestly couldn’t talk with my friend about what we had seen for fifteen minutes after leaving the show as I would have burst into tears again. This show is joint at the top for the best show I’ve seen at the fringe with John Robertson’s human hurricane/the dark room. Opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of content and style, but both superb.

This is one of my too favorite shows so far of the festival. It’s worth mentioning that its venue is a very intimate space and it compliments the material. I’m a fan of her music but this was so much deeper, vulnerable and beautiful than I was expecting. It’s also very funny. Highly recommend

I thought it was so brave of her to share such a difficult and emotional journey.

And in such a funny, heartfelt way. Her songs are laugh out loud funny.

It was "lights out" the best show we saw at the fringe.

Genuinely heartwarming and emotional show, stitched together with fantastic music and comedy. So much heart and emotion is weaved throughout the performance, it was enrapturing to go on the journey with Riki and rewarding. Big recommend.

I laughed, I cried, I laughed, I cried... repeat. My favorite show of the Fringe so far, and the fastest and most enthusiastic standing ovation I've seen.

I saw 5 shows on my Sunday at the Fringe and Riki's show was the star.

Genuinely emotional; heartbreaking, heart warming, and hilarious too. I can not recommend this show enough.

Thank you Riki for sharing your story with us all.

Beautiful! And phenomenal that you were strong enough to be able to bring your story to our Edinburgh Fringe. I hope it also might help others in a similar position to find the strength you had to get through and to where you are now.
So, they took your play and **** it. Well, why not bring your original true and heart-felt version as a play or a musical here to the Fringe. Who knows what might happen.
Thanks for a delightful show and it's so great to hear that you are now a happy Mum. :-)

She's Riki Lindhome. She doesn't need a review. Just Google her (if you're not her child). The show might make you cry at times but it's the best example of an awful story told beautifully. Some people deserve only good things, and life throws lemons at their face. This is the story of giving somehow birth to a lemonade.

Saw Riki's show on 1st August after it was recommended to me. TBH I'd not known about Riki nor, until a read up before, about the shows's story. Riki's story of IVF, infertility and surrogacy. It was one of the most remarkable, moving [heart wrenching], funny, brilliant and pitch perfectly performed shows I've seen. Had I not been at the back, I would have given her a huge hug (everyone there probably felt the same) - because she's been so brave, resilient and been through it all - a lot. Her quickfire humour, lyrics, musical talent and delivery left me thinking about the show for days and recommending it to all. Thank you Riki... every success and appreciation.

Lindhome is comfortable weaving together humour and sorrow, the highs and lows, the frowny faces and the smiley faces as she catalogues her struggles through jokes, anecdotes, and song.
