This one-man puppet drama follows a young performing artist with more than 20 years experience in Chinese puppetry, on his journey of self-discovery as he learns, practices and ultimately passes on his skills. His personal growth is explored through the telling of the classic heroic Chinese story: three sworn brothers in the Taoyuan, riding alone for thousands of miles. Already a favourite at international puppetry festivals, Shenzhen Puppet Art Theatre use a variety of different puppets, string, stick, cloth bag and shadow figures to elevate the everyday in their vivid, innovative and heartwarming shows.

Riding Alone tells the story of the actor Hong Jin Diao worship to learn the art, the story is simple but rich in meaning. A Solo actor has outstanding puppet control skills, and all kinds of puppets become vivid in his hands. The show revolves around traditional Chinese puppets, but director Ma Yuan has brought the whole story to the international stage, making traditional Chinese puppets accessible to audiences of all ages.

The show not only attracted children, but also a large adult audience, which is very successful for a puppet show. The puppet show mixed with music, especially the monkey dancing part, and everyone cheered. But the ending is warm and touching.

This is the most interesting and memorable puppet show I have ever seen. The actor Diao Jin can manipulate many kinds of Chinese traditional puppets, and they are all very beautiful. The show tells the story of the protagonist's growth experience, and the ending is very touching. This is one of the most interesting puppet shows I have ever seen, and it is unique in the fringe.
