Description

You know those people who tell you to aim for the moon and you'll land on the stars? Yeah, those people are a**holes. Filmmaker Christina Jobe's new stand-up show explains how a strict Conservative Christian upbringing isn't the best foundation for a career in entertainment. From accidentally going on a date with a septuagenarian, escaping the grasp of a frenzied holistic nutritionist, filming people who are filming porn, with a smattering of opioids along the way, this show explores how what you get is rarely what you want.

A missed opportunity for a visual storyteller/filmmaker to use visual elements like some film clips or photos or pop up banners.

I didn’t know what to expect going in, but I loved it! My favorite show of the fringe! It’s funny, well written, and very dark and twisted!

Very funny show. I enjoyed it. Memorable and bold.
I do wonder what her Dad thinks of a certain scene in the show!

Her content is interesting and she has some good material to work with but the delivery is a little un-engaging and mundane at times. If you like more laid back comedians then you might enjoy it but I feel it could benefit from a bit more snappiness or liveliness.

My family and I came out from California to support my sister and see her show. It was the most uncomfortable 60 minutes of all of our lives. It’s been a week and we’re still not making eye contact. I’m thinking about skipping Christmas.

Surprising, deadpan and very funny performance from Christina Jobe. It starts like it’s going to be a series of loose anecdotes from a Seventh Day Adventist who discovered the inanity of sin city, but it uses the increasingly absurd memories of the Hollywood production line to get somewhere surreal, bone-dry and well worth seeing.

She was funny and endearing!

It was pure coincidence that I bought a ticket to Christina Jobe's show, but I'm glad I did. Christina tells a grim story with both an incredible amount of humor and deep seriousness.
I can highly recommend Reels of Regret: Confessions of a Failed Filmmaker.

I hope she'll do a show next year.

Second funniest show I've seen during 9 days at Fringe. Totally worth seeing her performance! Her stories are interesting and captivating, writing is genius. She delivers every amazingly crafted sentence with dead serious conviction, while the audience is laughing out loud, almost every time. I know "that's just stand-up", but she's a "good person", you can take her word on that.

Very strong, unpredictable standup telling the genuinely very interesting, wacky stories about working in filmmaking. Christina Jobe is a fantastic performer, and the show goes in some unexpected and very memorable directions.

Loved this. My favourite kind of conversational comedy, with great stories and a cute, quirky delivery. Stories about making a two shot sandwich ad for a whopping $700k (the logo had a budget of its own), and filming a music video on the World's Most Dangerous Road were cleverly done. Sleeping with your Dad was all a bit weird, but our regretful young performer just about carried it off. Highly recommend.
