What a treat and a great idea. Loved the story, the dialogue, the monologues, the characters, the chemistry, the acting, the direction. Anyone who has ever lived or does live in a village will understand the undercurrent of community ‘spirit’ this story plays with. Go see it while the meat is still fresh….

After having dozens of shows since the beginning of August "prime meat" ranks among the top three. The play is very well written. That's especially remarkable because it's the company's own work.
The play is quite short and that's a benefit because the action is driven forward with a fast pace and no minute is squandered, there's not a moment in which the intensity slackens.
Even though the plot is predictable, the highly talented actors were able to induce a mixture of suspense, fascination and utter horror in me. One female actor is able to turn her face and eyes in a mask of complete insanity. The ability to suppress any contradiction by explosive yelling completed the image of a person "straight from hell". The other female actor showed her drifting into insanity in a much more suble way by letting her voice and eyelids quiver. The way she showed her insanity to the audience but not to her husband is quite masterly.
One male actors did a wonderful job in drowning the other with an endless flood of words that got more and more derailed and insane the longer the play lasted. The unexpected change to being a willingless tool of his wife's was impressive to watch. The fourth player, the husband, intended to be "prime meat", has to be pitied. He is the only sane person. And he is boring. And he is the only person who doesn't know what's going on. And he constantly only tries to make head or tails of the ridiculous things happening around him. But needless to say - he succeeded in showing all this to the audience.
All in all I found nothing that could have done better. Probably I'll use the last opportunity on Saturday to see the play again.

This is a great show. The actors are super talented, and their dynamics are very natural. I found myself engaged for the full duration of the performance… hilarious and absurd and the same time. this is a company to watch for sure!

I absolutely loved this show, incredibly funny throughout whilst still maintaining the sinister undertones. All 4 performances were amazing and played off of eachother really nicely. Admittedly watched this on my Space pass but I would happily pay to watch it.

I came in on a whim from flyering. This was advertised as a “horror comedy” however I didn’t find it either of these things. The actors were fine, although some suffered from overreacting which was a bit too hard to watch at times. The relationships between the two couples were one dimensional, whether this was a suffering of direction, script or both I could not tell and therefore when trying to get the slightly more complicated themes across, it fell short. Cut out the incessant need to try and add layers and world building to this story and you’d be left with a light, airy play that you can “switch off” to watch.

However the acting of the cult wife was eerily reminiscent of something you’d see back in the good old days of Fringe - a standout performance from her.

Overall it was a fun watch, not something I’d see again, once is enough. I appreciate that it seems this group are university students and therefore may not have had the time to practice and develop the story as much as they’d like. Well done to the students, it’s not easy to put on a show at the Fringe especially when you are young, so I admire your enthusiasm as after the show I could see it meant a lot to you.

All the best for future endeavours for the cast and crew.

5*: This show is funny, witty and shocking. Beautifully crafted and performed it truly is what fringe is all about community (even when that community is slightly cultish and chaotic)!
