Description

Mark Ravenhill's Pool (No Water) tears up the ideals of friendship and art revealing a collective jealousy when fame and success lands on one person, leaving others in the shadows. The Group descend upon their famous friend's home where they reminisce, become carefree and their jealousy evaporates. But a horrific accident ends the nostalgia and darker feelings about life's imbalances resurface. Before long, suffering is exploited and The Group gorge on their newfound power. A cast of brilliant young female performers breathe new life into this contemporary classic exploring the complexity of friendships, success and power.

After being approached by a couple of the performers from Pool No Water, to go and see their show and with the timings working perfectly before my next booked event, I decided to give it a go. And I am so pleased that I did To be honest, I didn’t really know what to expect. I had a quick read up prior to purchasing the tickets and thought this is going to be either extraordinary brilliant or a car crash.

A car crash it certainly wasn’t! The young actors played out this dark but highly emotional and emotive performance as though they were accomplished professionals. The Theatre group did not have a weak link amongst them. I was gripped from the very start to the very end.
I have to admit, this would not be the usual thing I would see back home but I’m so pleased that I did. It’s refreshing to see that there really is talent out there.

I highly recommend. Yes it’s a dark subject. But you won’t regret your decision.

Excellent production — definitely recommend it! Fabulous actors and staging/lighting. It is an intense play that has stayed with me throughout the day. A very welcome change of pace to round out the Fringe experience.

I love the performance. The young performers' entire bodies radiate energy and patience, which spreads throughout the venue. And this is a pretty excellent play script; if you want to try some different-structured plays, I definitely recommend!!

Pool (No Water) is a challenging play, ably performed by this group of young actors, who did particularly well in keeping the dialogue quick and sharp; no one faltered.
