A slick and polished production with simple sets and props and an excellent live orchestra. All participants gave an enthusiastic performance, with a good team of soloists led by Dan J Bryant as an excellent Pippin whose polished performance captured the highs and lows of the character's emotions very well. One of the last productions I saw this at this year's fringe and a good one to close with. I found 'my corner of the sky'.

Queued early for this much anticipated favourite to ensure front row seat and was so worth it. Immersive is an understatement. Stunning vocals from Leading Player on Magic To Do to introduce the story. Pippin’s naiviety was played well and Corner of The Sky is a new favourite for teenage kids. Choreography of the whole ensemble was so engaging and professional. So nice that Pippin was supported by a large and talented orchestra, a real treat! Digital programme a classy touch and nice memento

Fab show the leading player did so well. The king and pippin were really well cast. Catherine’s singing reminded me of Eva Cassidy, it was so beautiful and her son had a sweet voice as well. Loved the band too

This show was so incredible! The cast are so talented and really brought this musical to life on the stage. Special shoutout to Benjamin who was hilarious to watch as “Lewis”. Everyone did such a good job and I can’t wait to see their next production :))

Fabulous. Lead Player sensational and Ensemble super talented and bring great energy to the show. Dancing and choreography true to spirit of Fosse production. Band are fantastic and hard to believe whole production student led from start to finish.

One of the best things about this show was the lack of the American drawl we’re so used to in modern performance. Being able to listen to some local accents made a lovely change. The standout performer for me was Catherine, who stole every scene she was in. Her acapela song almost brought me to tears with its beautiful Scottish lilt and stunning vocal control

“Pippin”
The coming-of-age musical with Stephen Schwartz memorable tunes and lyrics and eye-popping, big-hands choreography originally directed by Bob Fosse, “Pippin” bursts onto the 2024 Fringe stage with much zeal and acrobatic vigor by the Edinburgh University Footlights. A cast of seventeen — all women save three — and a band of twelve bring much exuberance to the two-and-half-hour show (with intermission), with voices as a full ensemble ringing in full harmony but still clearly missing a full SATB balance one might expect (given only three males). Where this production particularly shines is in its choreography (Rose Roberts, choreographer), with numbers both large and small full of jumps, flips, taps, hands, and much more. Individual soloists often reign supreme; but in some cases — particularly in the role of an otherwise delightful Pippin — voice ranges and/or sureness have limits that are challenged.

Totally loved the show from start to finish. Such variety with sadness, comedy, love, happiness. All of the cast are amazing but I particularly loved the part of Pippin’s grandma. The hens and pigs on the farm are hilarious. Backed up by a fantastic orchestra of musicians. Well worth seeing.

Genuinely incredible performance from each and every actor. The most incredible way to spend an afternoon. Dan Bryant as Pippin was a powerhouse through and through. Standing ovation well deserved for this show.

What a fun show! Very energetic and full of surprises. Some great talent in this cast!
I was really impressed by the ensemble - every single one of them put their heart and soul into their performance. The pigs and the ducks were a real highlight for me!
I thought everyone was brilliant but I have to say that the actress playing Catherine had the most beautiful voice. I could listen to her sing all day!
Great show and a big well done to everyone involved!

So well done. The leads were exceptional. So many favorite scenes it’s hard to know where to start.
Every time a new character popped from the ensemble and had a solo spotlight, they hit a new high. From the step-mother to the grandmother to Catherine to Theo … wow.
And then … the pigs and the ducks. Maybe my favorite scene.
Big shoutout to the orchestra…
Honorable mention: the independent-minded trunk, and the improv responses.
