Description

Two doctors devise, with your help, a revolutionary health manifesto. Does the NHS need saving, funding or fixing? Will a change of government make much difference? Why can't we be like Sweden or Singapore? Is 'Health For All' an aspiration or a joke? Why are NHS staff so angry and knackered? Do we live too long or not long enough? Where can I buy some end-of-life drugs? Laugh, shout, argue, vote, save the NHS. Seriously subversive. The perfect election wind down. All profits to Doctors in Distress charity.

It's not a secret that the NHS has its problems and in recent years has struggled, with funding issues and boot marks from being a political football causing concern. This show from Phil Hammond and Dame Clare Gerada sets out to save it in 50 minutes, and does so with knowledge and genuine, practical solutions amid the (very funny) jokes.

Whatever your politics, if you think the NHS is worth fighting for, you'll leave this with a sense of pride and a lot to chew over. This is worth 50 minutes of anyone's time, not to mention all the time you'll spend afterwards thinking about what you've just seen.

Not particularly funny and very Anglocentric. Not a lot of research about the fact that the NHS is different in Scotland despite the fact of the show being in Scotland.

Both hilarious and insightful

Another excellent hilarious entertaining hour of NHS scary stuff!! Great observational comedy and some really fab info. I loved Dr Phil’s mantra for healthy living
I’ve copied it out and it’s on my fridge door !! And in my osteopathic reception room for all my patients to see
Thanks!!

Dr Phil never fails to entertain and inform but the addition of Clare Gerada was genius. They have a wonderful chemistry on stage (added to with some insights on the dangers of living with Phil for the run) . This is Phil's standard pitch of reality, pragmatism and hope - lots of hope- and of course lots of laughs. A must see.

I came out of this show feeling so hopeful. It has been a long time since I've heard anyone talk about the NHS like it's something that can be saved. The complexities of the current crisis are made understandable and the solutions seem achievable. A must see for anyone who is struggling with the feeling that we're loosing our health service.

Funny, informative and uplifting. Great chemistry between Phil and Dame Clare with just the right blend of humour and serious critique. A must-see show if you care about the NHS, want to be entertained, and wish to support medical professionals in difficulty.

Really enjoyed this! Witty and fast-paced, I'm always here for the dark humour of the medical profession, and it felt like ultimately a call to action, a love note to the NHS. Our NHS. Both of them did well, and I liked the format.

Liked the show but seemed to assume we all came from the same political card . Great wit from Phil and Clare

Show raises money for front line NHS staff mental health services, always a good thing! Some interesting chat but I was put off by fatphobia and mom shaming.

Funny and thought provoking lunchtime show. Some content a little difficult to follow for non NHS/healthcare workers but overall a really enjoyable and inspiring show. Loved Clare’s natural wit and ability to make the complex simple and Phil’s silly toilet humour. Please support!

A funny, cheeky and good natured look at how to improve our health. Worth it for the clangers card.

Fascinating, illuminating and really funny. Thoroughly enjoyed it - especially Dame Claire's beautiful pink jacket!!!

I took a clanger card so here is my review as promised. Funniest show I’ve seen at the fringe. Difficult subject matter dealt with in an extremely amusing and insightful way. Loved it!

First show of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe was a belter…thought provoking, funny and a reminder of what it is to care for the well-being of ourself and others. Phil Hammond and Clare Gerada were fabulous. get along and see them at spacetheSpace @ Surgeons Hall. Also lovely to speak to Ann Paul from Doctors in Distress…time to care for the carers

For anyone who’s ever navigated the NHS (so, all of us), this show is a must-see. It’s a rare piece of comedy that will have you crying with laughter one moment and seriously contemplating policy reform the next.

This show is an impressive piece of work. No doubt about it. The fast paced banter and sparky chemistry between these two eminent doctors – unmistakably authentic, evidently passionate.
