Shakespeare's "I am the cygnet to this pale faint swan" need not apply. Pale, sure. But the way the moon is pale: not faint but luminous. I hesitate to say this show was funny because while I did laugh I was mostly entranced at this oscillation between terrifying Rusalka and storybook princess. It makes me wonder: can one be beautiful and not go mad? Excellently executed.

The person before me described this show so much better than I could ever.
After a not so happy year I thought I'll never laugh again this much, and yet I was crying laughing! Such an odd piece, I'm so happy that I gave it a chance!

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Such a rich show what with the ballet, rapid mid-sentence character switching, the myths of love and happiness and foreverdom, seductive clown burlesque, audience participation, anthropomorphism and shapeshifting, and the unavoidable tragedy. So rich and yet so entirely hetero. One truly wonders why.

And so many themes folded into these 60 minutes. My partner thought 'harassment'. I thought double-edged 'exhibitionism' and passive 'voyeurism'. It sparks ideas and leaves you to contemplate.

It's also funny, provocative ("My sister swans, are any of you bleeding tonight?"), smart, and moving.

It was at times hard to tell when any one caricature is too crude or subtle, and hey, that's OK.

We need more shows like this, poetic and crass, experimental and bold. And beautiful!
