Description

Bringing together rappers and singers with heavy brass, strings, woodwind and a thundering backline, Tinderbox transform preconceptions of what an orchestra can be. Following their sell-out Made in Scotland show last year, Tinderbox's ground-breaking 20-piece orchestra are back and will be teaming up with the Loud Poets and some of Scotland’s most exciting spoken word artists for this year’s show. Packed with original music, movement, spoken word and unexpected collaborations, the show will transform Edinburgh’s iconic Central Library into a spectacular Fringe venue. ***** (BingeFringe.com). **** (Scotsman). **** (Guardian).

An evening of high energy amazingness! Loud, bold, and in a wonderful venue. One of the best things I've seen this year. Combining words and music in this way worked so well!

An unforgettable night of original music and poetry from the extremely talented Tinderbox Orchestra and Loud Poets! This is no ordinary orchestra; they play, they move, they dance, all at the one time! Their high energy, enthusiasm and sheer delight in performing is truly amazing!
The original poetry is funny, thought provoking, inspiring and brilliantly performed with so much energy and enthusiasm from the extremely talented poets!
What makes this night so special is the collaboration between the two. Poems are recited accompanied by atmospheric music from the orchestra or the most incredible of all, is when improvised hand signals are given to the musicians as a poem is performed to create a musical sound scape, absolutely incredible!
This is not to be missed, it's bold, loud, full of energy and incredible home grown talent, it will blow your mind!!

An amazing soundscape of a show. Phenomenal talent from the musicians. And the new spoken word aspect of this year really does elevate it to a whole new level. Five star for sure - a MUST SEE!

Loved the show and can’t recommend it enough. A friend recommended Tinderbox during my first Fringe experience in 2022 and they remain my ‘must see’. I can’t recommend enough - please do go and see and prepare to be blown away by the power of what this wonderful collective does. An eclectic, uplifting, inspiring collaboration of brass, woodwind, strings, song, rap and poetry in styles ranging from Trad to Balkan. Where else would you find that? Oh… and it’s in a library. Utterly unique and unmissable.

What an extraordinary show! A brilliant orchestra combined with phenomenal poets creating magic together! That the venue is a library makes it even more special. Had goosebumps during some of the pieces while a few others are stuck in my head on a loop. Highly recommend this show, packed with powerful performances, and hope to see more of Tinderbox Orchestra and Loud Poets!

What an incredible venue and even more incredible performers. Amongst a wash of dice-rolling when it comes to picking what to see at the Fringe, this show really does stand out amongst all others. You get to spend an hour in the most gorgeous library dating back to 1890, primed with authentic hidden staircases and architechture that lends itself to the shows content.

This show really does have something for everyone; a glorious orchestra of fresh faced musicians putting their all in with expert skill and lots of modern twists. Local artists, poets, and award winners coming together to collaborate and show what the best of Edinburgh has to offer. One of the poets is even a certified librarian and steals the show with their story of funding 'Music Libraries' across the city by helping challenged areas in checking out musical instruments as you would a book (leading us all to ask the question, why hasn't this been done before?).

Money and time well spent.
