Description

You don't need to see a show about a life-changing hallucinogenic experience. You don't need to hear about how it unlocked the meaning of love and the finite nature of time. You don't need to know the secret key to existence. Sarina didn't make that show. She faced her certain mortality and is here to share with you how she overcame it and now it's all completely totally fine. And you will stand up and applaud her for doing so. And then we'll all die someday! xox

A delicately written show and an absolutely fantastic performer. Everything you want a one woman show to be and more. No matter how high your expectations are, it will catch you off guard with how vulnerable and poetic it is.

Sarina masterfully commands our attention, as she fully commits to this performance that is part storytelling, part physical theater, and part just plain experience. Her truthful presence, combined with carefully curated light and sound elements, immerse us in the character’s world of drug-induced delusions. I was expecting a “Drugs set me free” type storyline and really enjoyed the plot twist. Engaging and thought provoking to the end.

Sarina Freda is a f*cking artist. A beautiful and genuine actor who balances sincerity with vulnerability. This show is a masterful rollercoaster of a journey, hilarious and makes you freaking think. Jaw dropped the whole time. Exquisite design and direction. Sarina Freda stan forever.

Let's start with the evocative, dazzling sound design. Add in stylish lighting that perfectly gets you into the world of the protagonist's emotional plight. Throw in top-notch, assured direction (including very clever use of the playing space). And of course... the central performance from Sarina Freda. Natural. Effective. Brave. Honest. Sarina utilizes every inch of her voice and her body to deliver a fierce performance that is at one moment laugh out loud funny and the next courageously sincere. A tour-de-force. Loved loved loved this show.

Having finished my fringe this year this is a review I wanted to come back to and update with some reflections. As I'm sure you'll know, some theatre, media, and stories are fun in the moment, and others grow on you. My fringe this year has been no different, with some being entertaining in the hour, and others giving you something to think about afterwards. Sarina and her teams production is the only show this year that has done both. And don't they do so brilliantly.

Experiencing Sarinas show in the moment it's a bizarre, surreal rollercoaster that was her experiences with psychedelics. Comedy, juxtaposition, and dynamic direction keep the content engaging beyond that of the subject matter itself.

In retrospect, this show is even more fantastic. Through choosing to perform a psychadelic trip, Sarina gives herself opportunity to portray suffering and the human condition in a condensed, profound, and authentic manner. In my humble opinion, the performance is a close to perfect example of how live theatrical performances can be best used to portray humanity experiences in real time. In my memory I have not seen any cultural medium capture the human condition as wholly as Sarina and her team do in 50 minutes.

Now perhaps I am biased - as a trainee psychologist I am always gonna love the psychological-thriller aspect of this show. Perhaps I am even reading into and over-emphasising meaning due to my lens of psychology theory. But then again, perhaps this show is even more impressive, free, and expressive from being developed independently.

Surprisingly this show is not really advertised around Edinburgh. I have seen no marketing of this production whatsoever. So pat yourself on your back for finding this hidden gem. I saw this on a whim after over-hearing other people gushing to sarina about how much they enjoyed it as I was going into a different show the previous day - I am so glad I took a chance on a show I thought "might be terrible". If reading this makes you even somewhat curious, I encourage you to see if my words do this fantastic production justice.

Sarina is such an electrifying performer with impeccable timing. Her physical performance and wit is unmatched. Loved this show so much. A must see at the fringe!

Mesmerising, engaging, full of energy and unexpected in its depth alongside the laugh out loud humour.

Sarina is really something special. Out of the 14 shows I've seen so far, this has been the stand out. Sarina gives an amazingly physical performance accompanied by a fantastic lighting and sound design. A must see if you like clown, mime, physical theatre, psychedelics, and good theatre. There is really nothing else like it at the fringe!

Sarina's performance takes you through the turbulence of a psychedelic trip down to the singular detail. That in addition to the light and sound work creates a truly immersive experience above the grade of solo shows. Trippy, must see that will prompt a self-exploration from the viewer for a cheaper rate than what LSD is going for these days.

Absolutely loved this show. Both hilarious and incredibly touching and emotional in a very original way that doesn’t fall into cliches. Sarina’s energy on stage is captivating, and the tech, from the lights to the music to the sound cues are really impressive. A must-see!!

Sarina’s show is incredibly physical, expertly executed, and lit to perfection (you must see the lighting in this show!!). She takes you on a true journey, and it one you want to be on, even if her character doesn’t. She is hilarious, a clown, and it’s a must see at Fringe! I’ve already seen it twice! Put it on your list, especially if you are into mime, clown, and physical theater!
