Description

One woman taking on the role of her three alter-egos in this tragi-comic psychodrama. Mike: an eccentric, scatter-brained academic in training. Elliott: a defensive yet laid-back aspiring artist. And Host: the reluctant, vulnerable core-self... hiding beneath them both. Can Host take back her true heart and autonomy, or will she forever remain stuck behind the two dominant alter-egos that steer her mind, fight for her body and control over her life? Can they collectively find a way towards integration or will they remain in active-imagination fantasy state, together... forever? NeuroChatter is a new writing, autobiographical solo performance.

I feel so privileged to get to see this show in its short run! I had almost no prior knowledge of DID and so it felt like a master class in a first person lived experience to watch Neurochatter. I don’t have this disorder however I felt so connected to Sara (and Mike and Elliott) through the exquisite storytelling and the raw and beautiful honesty of being your most authentic self. This show deserves all its accolades and more

NeuroChatter (****)
For the actress, she really has three split personalities that actually know of each other, and are quite verbal as they argue about who should dominate the next piece of her life. In this show we see how the three work together to help her to be effective in life. This is a remarkable show because each of the three must act their parts for the hour of the show.

This is 18th most enjoyable show of the 156 shows I have seen so far at the Fringe this year. You may see my other three-sentence reviews, in order from most enjoyable to worst, at my non-commercial website: https://fringefan.com/

A truly captivating performance that will stay with me for a very long time. Sara and her alters, Mike and Elliot let us into their world in a way that forces you to look inward at all the parts of you that make up who you are, with many chuckles and even the odd belly laugh along the way. I left feeling touched, elated, emotionally raw and validated. This is a piece that I truly believe everyone should see. It captures the human experience in a unique and frankly mesmerising way.

An absolutely wonderful and engaging show almost unparalleled in its honesty. The show offers a unique perspective on navigating life with a fractured sense of self and dissociation. By turns dramatic and comedic, the show explores a range of topics and life experiences from this lens, and the entire audience was captivated throughout. I could not recommend more.

Absolutely amazing! Neurochatter is captivating. Sara Harvey is a brilliant performer with a great stage presence and an important story to tell.

A debutant to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with a mental health story portrayed in this 1-person play to tell about the multiple personalities within herself. 5 shows in this run of which I was a member of her first audience.

A raw and powerful show that shows, not tells, an experience of dissociation and fragmentation of personality in a quest to manage and deal with extreme trauma ... a compelling and excellently executed piece of theatre

Neurochatter is a dense and demanding play which does not talk down to the audience.

The show is gripping and excellently executed, forcing audiences to confront their own sense of normalcy and preconceptions around mental health.
