Description

'When I started this thesis, I had no idea I’d end up where I have. But, as all good researchers know, the thing you think you’re investigating doesn’t usually end up being the most interesting part of the conversation.' Love is a complicated subject and Liv wants to set the record straight. Dive into the intricacies of love, modern dating, trauma and the patriarchy as we follow her and her many prospects as she tries to balance her relationships, her thesis and her past together.

I loved this show so so so much. It has a very charming quality to it - amazing writing, fab direction, and brilliant acting. The story is lovely with nice character development and good progression. Honestly a great way to spend an hour or so!

Really brilliant show! The story was touching and poignant, the actors vibrant and energetic, with two of them switching characters dynamically throughout as the story surrounding the third actor progresses. There was a theatrical minimalism and "DIY" nature of the production that was actually very charming. The story and message of the play is very current and relevant to how romance and relationships are affected by todays culture, and communicates its message in a way I've never seen before. This is a funny, poignant and innovative piece of new theatre. All 3 actors played their part wonderfully! Modern Love is Not a Dream is 100% worth seeing!

The clash of modern media with age-old themes is explored in Modern Love is Not a Dream by Laura Turner, presented by Looking Glass Theatre and New Celts at theSpace on the Mile. An intriguingly structured play, it is given a considered staging and features a first-rate ensemble.
