Description

The songmeister's back to tell us how artificial intelligence is no match for good ol' organic stupidity, and (from experience) how actual intelligence can't save you from being unbelievably cretinous... An Edinburgh veteran, he's widely acknowledged as one of the best writers / performers of comedy songs in the UK and was resident comic songwriter on BBC Radio 4's The Now Show from 1999 to 2016. He has a large online following and recent works like F*ck All and Moving to Scotland, have amassed a million plus views. 'The country's leading musical satirist' (Times).

The show was going reasonably well until Mitch went into the gory details about his medical issues and surgery. Ruined the whole show for us.

Another superb show from Fringe favourite Mitch Benn.

Where most politically/socially aware comedians need to age to acquire the wisdom of the ages, Mitch has always had it. The astuteness of his observations, the way he teases out the irony and then distils it into mockery is now long-honed, but actually he’s been doing it this well for at least 25 years. For that reason it was great to see so many first timers in the audience.

He has been (and is going through) quite a physical ordeal so when he tells you about the pain, this is not method acting, it’s just pain. So hats off to him for doing stand up in circumstances under which most men wouldn’t be able to stand up. Bloody but unbowed, he’s still one of the best things on the Fringe and the Floyd outro was magic.
Thanks again, Mitch,
Love

A thoroughly enjoyable show by a very accomplished, entertaining performer. Would recommend to anyone with a reasonable tolerance of fairly strong language.

Deeply funny, warm and superbly done, Mitch Benn is back at the peak of his game. Funny, folksy and flipping good. Go see.

It is the man and his guitar, augmented with a few electronic gismos where he really shines. The songs are great, the topics wide ranging, and of course he delivers his annual lesson and demonstration of live looping, creating his backing track right in front of your eyes.

Mitch Benn – The World’s Cleverest Idiot is intelligent reflections on life and morsels of book wisdom (perhaps Wikipedia) bundled into comedy and song.
