Description

In 2015, at the age of 20, Mhairi Black became the youngest person ever elected to the House of Commons. Nearly 10 years on, she has announced she will stand down at the next election and looks forward to embracing her dark sense of humour. For £13 you could buy 491 teabags, 43 Freddos, six and a half lottery tickets, or one alcoholic beverage at the Edinburgh Fringe. Even better, for £13 you could buy a ticket to this first hand, behind the scenes, ruthlessly honest look at politics in 21st-century Britain.

Exceptionally approachable and relatable and also very funny. Really enjoyed and hated hearing about the clusterfk that is Westminster. Left inspired and angry!

This is a fantastic show. Delivered with great insight and emotion. I loved the pace and great timing. The HOC is a diminished place without Mhairi, but she highlights its complete ridiculousness so well. Brilliant and genuine in equal measure.

One of my favourite events of this festival, one that left me feeling quite emotional and very privileged to have been a part of this insight into Parliamentary life. I wonder if SKS or his minister (I forget her name) in charge of modernising Parliamentary practices will pick up on the voting lobby farce or the ridiculous performance of securing a seat on the front row. My favourite bit was her memories of being invited to the debate at Eton, particularly the bit about the photo of her pointing to the portrait of the young JR Mogg. Self-awareness and a keen sense of the ridiculous.

Highly entertaining whatever your political sway. A great insight to the tortuous workings of Westminster and much more, with great humour.

This is billed as comedy but she manages to be informative and illuminating too, lifting the lid on some of the bizarre anachronisms at Westminster. Whether or not you share Mhairi’s politics, this is an hour well spent.

A great insight in to what goes on behind the scenes and so funny!

Great insight into Westminster and hilarious

Congratulations on a brilliant show!!

Loved the honesty, humour, and the insight Mhairi used to take us on this retrospective journey. A brilliant fringe experience so would highly recommend going to see it.

Mhairi Black’s is the LGBTQEXMPADHD show everyone with a modicum of interest in politics should watch. Hilarious, self-aware, and informative Mhairi really does pull back the curtain on the ridiculous pedantry of Westminster - it really is no wonder things take so long to get done with their roundabout voting system!

An entertaining show that gives incredible insight into the absurdity and fustiness of Westminster, with a killer Michael Gove 'line'. Mhairi is self-aware, self-deprecating and clearly the sort of principled person we need more of in politics. I hope we see more of her in future, whether it's comedy, politics or this mixture of the two.

Great show! Whatever your politics you will find Mhari likeable, entertaining and honest. It's a real pity she was treated so badly she had to give up on being an MP. But politics' loss is our gain. Hope her future plans include more things like this

A smart politician turns her clear sense of the absurd, her commons sense and humility on her years in parliament. Excellent and makes you like and respect her even more.

Mhairi Black's Politics Isn't For Me at Gilded Museum 1pm ...was most definitely for Kath and me. She is a wonderful raconteur twitching the curtain so we can see behind the scenes of her, honestly, weird workplace for the last 10 years. This is a celebration of her slightly rebellious streak which was too often picked up and thrown back by the gutter press with lies and falsehoods. She challenges us to take notice of our politics and those who settle into the hallowed decaying portals of Westminster - maybe at times enjoying the trappings of office more than is wise. It is we the voters who can cause change if we take an interest and push against historic systemic rigour mortice. I wish her joy and a lighter life after the service she has given. No caravan or daytime TV for this Young ex Member. Grab a ticket if you can. It was 95% full today so you might be lucky.

Black has broken free, and the next stage somewhere will beckon. On the evidence of this, she is going to be quite the formidable presence. And not just the unionists should worry when this LGBTQEXSNPMPADHAD makes her move.
