Description
Maria Fedulova, award-winning comedian and enemy of the Russian state, talks family, crime, and living the life of a refugee in her hilarious debut hour. She was a TV comedian in Russia, up until they started arresting TV comedians. Although Maria is an innocent person, criminalised by an evil regime, her father was not so innocent. In her hour she'll tell the story of her family, integrating as a Russian into English society, struggles with identity, national shame, and her father’s petty criminality. 'A great, darkly funny, tale to tell' (Chortle.co.uk). Great fun. To my shame snorted a couple of times when laughing.
Would definitely go again.

Saw Maria on a whim and so glad I did. She's a superb joke writer and has some wonderfully surreal lines - not bad for her second language. The hour left me wanting more and I hope to see her on tour

Maria's such a warm and likable performer that the hour sails by. Some great and thought provoking material on how we treat refugees: nothing gut wrenching, just sad in a reflective way, buttressed by some good jokes.

Not only is Maria hilarious but this show is incredibly thought provoking in exposing the British Government’s attitude towards refugees. Would recommend :)

Maria's show is the best at the fringe so far! Smart, funny, engaging and the hour just flies by. A must see!

Maria's show was charming, amusing and thought provoking (including a timely reminder to us all that no one chooses to become a refugee or asylum seeker lightly or on a whim).
Very glad we went along to this show.
