Description

This women-created news satire stars comedian Maggie Metnick in drag as Chip Johnson, a red-blooded American male pundit on a mission to mansplain the news to women. From politics to sex advice, Chip is here to guide the girlies through a big man’s world. What begins as a self-serious cable news show unravels into a surreal exploration of Chip’s insecurities, the loneliness of modern masculinity, and the follies of the patriarchy. You’re welcome, ladies. As listed in TimeOut's Best Things to Do in New York.

I'm working on a show in the same venue that Man Up is being performed at, and really fancied a good laugh! I wasn't disappointed. Maggie Metnick is superb! Funny, slick and an excellent character comedian. Chip Johnson is just brilliant! The multimedia sections are well put together and the humour is clever and although billed as "A Show For Women", it has a lovely inclusive feel. This is a must-see show! Catch it whilst you can.

Stumbled upon the devilishly hilarious and hatefully lovable Chip Johnson (played by the fabulous Maggie Metnick) in Man Up one evening and laughed so hard I had to go back the next day. It was *that* good. I’m prepared to shout it from the mountaintops, but I’m not sure Chip would enjoy the hike up to Arthur’s Seat...

The fresh format of the show works fantastically for a one-woman, scratch that sorry, one-Chip show that will make you revel in hatred for straight h-white men while laughing so much you cry. Truly a delight. Even if you don’t already love to hate straight h-white men, you’ll have a blast.

So funny and smartly written! Maggie is such an amazing character comic and Chip is the man! I learned so much!

A hilarious play, I loved Chip and his deep insights into the political sphere and learnt much about the United States of Amerika! *Eagle sounds*

It's alright!
Funny moments, dramatic, some US politics stuff/names lost on this Brit, kind to the audience in this wee venue, dialogue kept moving. As for a previous post about numbers, there were at least 20 audience members for my showing.

It was okay. A bit on the nose for my taste but I got some laughs. I personally think the late night political format is getting a bit overdone but there’s something there if the act gets tighter. Maybe it’s an American thing but I feel like there can be a bit more subtlety there. I’m all for a show geared towards women but as a woman sometimes it felt forced. But it’s also not an easy medium so I wish them all the best. I think I would just like to believe Chip a little more rather than being told what Chip is if that makes sense.

In a time dominated by American politics I was beginning to feel I’d hit my saturation point for political satire and pundit spoofs. Luckily, I had one more in me because Man Up was an absolute joy. A delicious character piece up there with Colbert. Someone give this man a hug.

I saw the show in NYC (humble brag) and I thought it couldn’t get better. I came to Fringe and got proved the EFF WRONG. A MUST SEE. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This show is so relevant, and so funny-- Especially if you're American, and/or a woman, and/or are fed up with the US's conservative news clownery... Maggie Metnick is hilarious as Chip Johnson, and really gets at the absurdity of the way men talk about women's rights. I mean, I WISH it wasn't such good satire!!! "Man Up: A Show for Women!" is a really silly + goofy good time about real life issues, so if you want to laugh, go watch it!!!!! 10/10 recommend.

This US comedy show really delivers! I was laughing my head off the whole time - it was honestly a laugh a minute at least. Original, funny, intelligent and filled with well prepared videos and PowerPoint slides this was an absolute delight to watch. Maggie is a truly great performer and this show proved it. The sponsored ads were such a good bit to add in as well.
If you liked this review, you'd like.... SPLORNT! Want to laugh until you can't laugh anymore? Try Man Up and SPLORNT!

If you enjoy "The Colbert Report" you'll probably laugh at "Man Up" too - it's Colbert for the Me Too era. I laughed, I groaned, I got complimented on my handsome face.

This brilliant, joke heavy satire is extremely relevant in today’s political and social environment. The writing is super smart and the acting is hilarious. Great for folks of all genders and identities. A must see if you’re at the Fringe!!

This show was worse than awful. Only 2 of us in the audience and it was not funny at all, maybe Americans would find it funny but I doubt it. Only made worse by the false laughing from the two ticket touts who dragged us in, they only came into make up the numbers. Anyway I think it may have been cancelled after this possibly first showing (we went on 1st day of the fringe) because all the advertisement posters seemed to have disappeared by the next day. Good riddance, what a waste of money.

I’m a fan of the satirical comedy genre and I think Maggie brings to life a grotesque but weirdly lovable character very well.
