Description

Inspired by the style of Alan Bennett's Talking Heads and that of traditional storytelling by a single narrator, this play weaves four humorous and moving narratives into one man’s story of love and loss, buses, taxis and cakes. We are brought gently into the life of John as he recovers from the loss of his wife and discovers the pleasures and challenges of travelling on Edinburgh buses, talking to a London taxi driver, babysitting, sampling Turkish pastries and experiencing the perils, fun and misunderstandings of online dating for the older man. Charming, funny and moving.

Written with the truth that moves you. The show is easily relatable as the persona navigates Edinburgh either on the bus or via curious business premises... It closes with a monologue which is controlled, caring and very powerful. Credit is due to both the writer and the actor... The 'talking head' brought to life the words of the writer as if they were his own.

We watched this tonight, and I can't recommend it enough! It’s a heartwarming and hilarious gem that hits all the right notes. The writing is sharp, with a perfect blend of humor and warmth, and the performances are spot on. Each episode left me smiling, and sometimes even a little teary-eyed, but always in a good way. If you're looking for a gentle comedy that’s well crafted and genuinely uplifting, this one’s definitely worth your time. Don’t miss it!
