Description

Love and Freindship (fear not, deliberate misspelling) is a Regency romp through the adventures of Laura, a young woman on the quest for love... and yes, freindship. After finding a stranger on the doorstep of her rustic cottage, Laura is swept away into various schemes and exploits – framed and narrated by her older and wise(r) counterpart. Styled as a combination of Austen and drunk history, this play is the original theatrical late-1700s road trip movie, as our heroine flirts with both the nobility and the law. Before there were women's rights, women's wrongs were fair game.

Very funny regency romp, it's actually a pretty interesting concept with an older Laura narrating a younger Laura's experience while the actors act it out! The venue is tiny and the group makes the most of it and has some genius ideas for prop usage (i loved the carriage)
Definitely worth seeing if you know Jane Austen didn't always take herself that serious!

Very cleverly written Jane Austen adaptation, hilariously performed with really expressive and enthusiastic acting which kept us engaged and laughing throughout. We loved it and were only disappointed when it ended.

A great adaptation, and a fun and versatile cast. Brilliantly captures Jane Austen's wry sense of humour, with a touch of self-deprecating millennial satire. Would appeal to all ages- My 9 -yr old daughter loved it as did I - a seasoned Austen fan. Hilarious whilst still classical.

What a fantastic performance of an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Love and Freindship (and yes that is how Austen spelt it!).
It was so good to see the actors enjoying themselves and throwing themselves into several roles each.- who knew a door could be a piece of theatre in its own right!
This theatre group from Durham University are truly entertaining. I loved it!
