Description

All-star jazz sextet, led by Edinburgh’s acclaimed songwriter Lorna Reid. Cool, classy takes on the Great American songbook and beautiful original songs. 'Fabulous repertoire from easy listening, to hot swing' (BBC Radio Scotland). Last year the band played to full houses at the Jazz Bar, Edinburgh's premier jazz venue. Influences from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Joni Mitchell to contemporary virtuosos Diana Krall, Madeleine Peyroux and Melodie Gardot. 'Moods, themes and colours of music shifted and changed effortlessly' (ArtsReviewsEdinburgh.com). 'Simultaneously warm and very cool' ***** (ThreeWeeks).

This is such a brilliant way to relax and unwind after a day of walking about soaking up the Fringe. It has such a seemingly effortless charming vibe that pulls you in and if Lorna doesn’t capture your attention immediately (she will) then the band just steal the show as well.
It’s a real collaborative piece where every part shines. One of those moments where everything comes together all at once to provide a fabulously stylish concert in a beautiful setting.
I do a lot of live singing myself and was enamoured by this performance, just bursting with originality, style and talent.
Highly recommend going to The Jazz Bar, make sure to go early enough to get a seat as this deserves to be full every time.
