Description

Following sold-out shows in Manchester, Helio Collective debuts at Fringe with a fresh take on how we talk about our planet's future. Unnerving, thought provoking and hilarious, prepare for talking animals, the heights of fast fashion and your (least) favourite politicians reassuring you that climate change is definitely not their fault. From the team that brought you last year’s five-star Manchester Revue comes 'exaggerative comedic finesse' (BingeFringe.com) with a healthy dose of existential dread. With what little time we have left we might as well enjoy ourselves, but how long until everything falls apart?

An outstandingly creative performance on such a pressing emergency. The cast were witty, sensitive and informative. An emotional roller coaster that left me in tears. The best show that I have seen at this year’s fringe. Congratulations to all those involved it was a breathtaking performance. Just fantastic.

such a gorgeous piece of theatre, made me laugh and cry in equal measure! so well researched, witty and interesting, with such a human message and such variety of style and genre.

A lot of factual research underpins this show and adds an educational aspect. It is witty and deeply serious. The makers of this show found a good balance between the two. The piece leaves the audience with a sense of hope as it ends on a human note. We are in this together. As so many in the audience, I was moved to tears.

Fantastic work. Really engaging, thought provoking, intense, heart stopping at one point. This is an excellent production and well worth going to see. The messaging deserves attention and is impactfully delivered. Well done.

This is my third year coming to fringe, and this show was definitely the most memorable one yet. Look What We’ve Done cleverly hooked the audience in with comedy, whilst exploring nuanced and intelligent conversations on climate change, politics and the world’s future as a whole.

I could tell the creators had really done their research, and there were multiple references to scientific terminology and processes which gave the show more weight and credibility. On top of this, I felt the show balanced the sides to each political argument, giving a fresh non-cliche take. The naturalistic moments of the script felt super organic, and I felt really connected to the discussion on climate anxiety as a young person myself.

Whilst the show brought me to tears (full sob), I also left the theatre feeling a greater sense of hope and empowerment than before. Each element of the show worked so well together, with intricate sound design, ingenious sustainable costumes, and a beautiful video montage to close the show. Look What We’ve Done really proves the power of theatre!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this rollercoaster of emotions, 10/10 would go again!
The show was dynamic, guiding the audience through well-researched and well-rehearsed hilarious sketches about our current climate crisis. The cast worked insanely well together, weaving effortlessly through each segment, making sure to give each of their alter egos a chance to shine- and shine they did. I particularly enjoyed the spoof games show, including the audience in a true or false round, highlighting the ignorance of everyone in modern society in regard to "common knowledge" about our world. The play then segwayed into an intense and emotional take on the modern climate disaster, reminding us to recycle more and use paper straws but also to question those in power and their decisions regarding our planet. I sobbed, I laughed, I got angry and, most importantly, I learnt something. Shout out to my favourite Spanish Lizard, Leo who aced it!
Thank you to the amazing cast and crew that put on such a show!
5 stars!

I cannot recommend this show highly enough. Firstly it's hilarious with high energy sketches sneaking in science facts. then it segues into something altogether more serious, thought-provoking and emotional. Not a dry eye in the house. I felt all the emotions- joy, anger, sadness and hope.

An excellent play, very thought provoking. In particular I enjoyed the multi media style and clever costumes.

A (very) strong recommend. This is genuinely moving, funny, original and inspiring. The cast of 4 is excellent, all so versitile, equally strong on physical comedy/accents/satire as the more serious/emotional drama. the writing is so impressive too, all the research made it eye-opening politically, all so easy to digest. I can't stop thinking about some of the stuff in it and (as extreme as this sounds) I can't think there are many plays around right now that are more important to see. Perfect if you're confused/concerned about the planet but also if you fancy a laugh, a cry, some hope and inspiration! Thank you and well done to all those involved.

Definitely a must watch this year, it was absolutely brilliant. I could watch this show over and over and over. The design was especially creative, especially considering it looked to be largely made out of recycled material and plastic bags! Highly recommend watching this incredible team making us as an audience 'look what we've done' to the world around us. Brilliant.

Missing this show would be a huge mistake! It perfectly balances being incredibly moving while still being a piece of comedy genius. The cast is a powerhouse of talent!!!! Loved it! Everyone needs to go.

A hard-hitting, unique, and genuinely incredible and important show about Climate Change. This ensemble is so tight and intense in a way that it’s impossible to escape the inevitable dread that we should all feel about the state of our planet. It’s funny, it’s emotional, it’s surprising - exactly what Fringe theatre should be. Go. See. It.

As the show ends with the cast telling us “there is no theatre on a dead planet”, we can hear the sound of crowds of protesters outside.
