Description

A new solo performance by Funny Women finalist Natalie Bellingham using comedy, storytelling, movement and interaction to celebrate being human in all its banality, sprinkled with joy and ridiculousness. A visual and physical collage performed by a clown delving into the space inside us left behind by time. It's about the pain and beauty of growing older, connecting and unravelling, holding on and letting go by a person trying to unwrap the new version of themselves in a world they don't recognise and a life they seem uncomfortably in charge of. It's about what comes next.

A powerful and vulnerable exploration of herself. Funny not in a LOL sense but more of a "Jesus, I feel that way too sometimes". Brought me close to welling up towards the end with the sheel depth of emotion. Minimal crowd-participation depite the alerts on the show description.

I felt a lot of connection with some of the broader themes of aging, and lonliness, and wondering if you're just effing it up or you're doing it right. I'm not very arty so didn't get some of the themes and analgoes but that's on me, not her - she's an honest and open performer and I respect the hell out of her for that.

I wish there was a Q&A so I could ask "was your vulnerabilty a result of your stand-up or did stand-up steer you toward an exploration of your vulnerability?"

Enjoyed it and would go to see her again.

This was a deeply moving , witty and thought/ provoking show
The way in which the performer connected with the audience and gave so much of herself made this a very special and original theatre experience. Incredible shifts in mood and brilliant interweaving of material holding it all together .

I loved this show. Natalie is brilliant. Very funny and very moving. I kept finding myself on the beach (Praa Sands in my case). So glad we went to see it on the chance of being given a flier just half an hour before.

I might go again.

This is such a special show. You somehow feel like you're having a private conversation with a close friend. One of those beautiful, watch the sunrise together, type of conversations. I laughed and cried and ultimately left feeling so grateful to be alive. Look After Your Knees somehow makes you appreciate both the ups and downs of life.

This is a do not miss!

What an amazing show. Natalie leads you through a wave of emotions, on a storytelling path through points in her life. Listening to thoughtful stories and funny situations made this experience one to remember. A complex, emotional, funny hour not to be missed.

What a truly 'magnificent' performer Nat is. Had me hooked from the start. Gorgeous devising, she clearly poured her heart and soul into the piece and we were right there pouring with her x

Wow! Contemporary theatre at it's best!! This play got me laughing, crying, and reflecting on my own life. It was interesting, entertaining and moving. Nat, is a fantastic performer and storyteller, I felt like I was watching a close pals dream! My thoughts have kept going back to it days later.. "oh remember that ace part!?" One line in particular has changed my way of looking at something BIG for the better! I'll not say which.. go find out for yourself!

As all with all performers they ask not to post a review if you didn’t like the performance.
I found this blinding so I won’t post a review

Somewhere in the space between a one-person play, performance art and stand-up, after a puzzling start, from a few minutes in this showcase of Natalie Bellingham’s emotional and physical range settles into an intense and moving psychological exploration shot through with properly funny comedic observations and really clever use of the performance space, of objects and direct engagement with those of us lucky enough to have found this exciting talent. Not always an easy watch so very close to the performer, but it’s not meant to be. Felt privileged to have been offered an hour in her company.

Oh I loved this so much. Had me silent sobbing and snorting with giggles. Great clowning. You gave me space to feel it all.

Ah, this was such a beautiful hour. She is skillful, gentle, raw and honest. I connected with her words wholeheartedly ❤️

You'll feel welcome as you settle in; this really interesting show doesn't come across as only theatre, or storytelling, maybe it's somewhere in between. Just the right amount of intimacy, and a great balance of comfort and discomfort, lead us in the end to some very good words of advice.

Heartily recommended.

Absolutely loved this show! What a funny woman. So many laughs, warm and engaging. Still trying to make sense of some of the content but that's part of the experience I suppose. Will be looking out for more performances - really hope to see Natalie again! Still makes me laugh just thinking about the show!

After seeing a very early scratch version of this I was thrilled to see Nat's name on the fringe website: a remarkable performer. I felt like I just spent an hour with my best friend. Nat makes this performance look so easy, fun, joy-filled and poignant. The audience feels held and looked after, stared down and joyful.
Beautiful.

This took me by surprise in a good way. A funny surreal tone poem of a “play”. A one woman show where Natalie starts by skilfully forging a close bond with her audience before taking them/us on a (gripping) journey of love loss laughter … and bird song… it will stay with you.

Look After Your Knees is all about the main character ... and I bought it hook, line and sinker. It's a quite unconventional piece, and threw me for a loop. I don't think it's describable in a few sentences. But it made an internal logic that was more than the sum of its parts. You should just see it - you won't be sorry. I certainly wasn't!

Brutally airless theater space this afternoon but Natalie still pulled off a moving, engaging performance! Homages to key people in her life and metaphors abound.

Natalie is a masterful storyteller and manages to weave all the complexities of being a human (especially a woman in your thirties) into a one hour show. It’s mesmerising. I’ve seen it twice. Cried twice. And would watch it again in a heartbeat. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Natalie has such an original personality, a stage presence like no other and a charismatic quirkiness and humor that brings the audience into her world of poetry and craziness. She dissects her own mind, microscopic millions of thoughts, connecting the dots of our humanity. Definitely recommend !

Look After Your Knees is a powerful, moving ode to finding your way through the debris left by loss, but at the same time a theatrical, warm hug.
