Description

An unsure artist, incongruent in high-class society, and a young bride, delivered to a new city, are thrown together to create something beautiful for the people that control them. What they end up producing is a delicate all-consuming relationship that will prove to be the most important of their lives. Inspired by the friendship between famed Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli and his model and muse Simonetta Vespucci. Their story is told through vignettes of the brief time they spend together in the artist’s studio before the deadly poison of the outside seeps in through cracks in the door.

I headed over to see this play at the suggestion of Russell T Davies on Instagram and was glad I did. Very strong performances from both, very engaging. I hope they both get roles in ongoing and future RTD projects.

I absolutely loved this play. The writing was fascinating, funny and perspicacious and I found it utterly gripping. La Bella is the kind of
perfectly crafted gem that makes this festival so
special. Can’t recommend it highly enough - it needs a transfer!

Great script, great acting

I’d recommend this show - it’s witty and interesting and the two leads are fantastic xx

A triumph for these dedicated students. Great for beginners. Cold, simple, and yet not exact.

Very well written contemporary story with powerful performances from the two leads. Each told their story in a personal meaningful way with strong chemistry between the characters. The recounting of her life by Simonetta was emotional and deep and no doubt resonates for many (unfortunately).
Highly recommended - loved it!

Beautifully written, directed and performed. At the fringe it is worth digging deep to find a rare gem amongst so many. I'm glad I happened upon this and would encourage others to do exactly the same.

The surprise of the fringe.
The Renaissance answer to ‘one day’
The two leads were outstanding.
Someone call the national theatre & get this showing in London.
Classiest poster and instagram too!
