WOW
it takes a lot to impress me, it takes a lot for me to engage in a show. But you guys did it!

You had a very high bar to reach. Watching and listing was a Sound engineer of 25 years of musical theatre.
For you guys to pull off a full blown musical in a tiny space, no big budget, no theatrical magic to support you, just yourselves and your energy. Thank you for 2 hours of pleasure and entertainment.

If we can support your production next year with some free Radio mics we will do our very best to help you out, please get in touch!

This was our last show of our fringe journey and what a show to end on. What an amazing production it was absolutely amazing. All the cast were full of energy and entertained us from start to finish. The cast were amazing and there were so many great moments throughout the show. Loved Charlie Lola Lauren Don and Nicola they all had great parts to play. There were lots of great singing from all the cast .we loved Charlie and.Lolas duet (Not my father's son) which brought a tear to my eyes.but Lauren stole the show with her song (History of wrong guys) what a performer she was powerful voice but it was her facial expression and comedic timing she had the audience in the palm of her hands pure genius bravo. Whoever directed this show must be so proud of this talented cast.It is by far the best show we have seen at the fringe..

We went to see the show today for the second time and the cast have gone from strength to strength.Lauren and Charlie vocals were amazing and Don and Nicola played their characters really well. Lola was good but we first saw the show first week of the fringe and it was a different lola .We would have liked the Lola we saw today to have been a bit more glamorous but well done to the cast

Fabulous show. Cast were great. Enjoyed every minute. Five stars.

We absolutely love this show and having recently performed it ourselves we know it inside out. A brave choice performing with no mics but we could hear all the vocals better than we could hear some shows that are using mics so that’s credit to a very strong cast with exceptional vocals. Some great moments in this show and my favourite song “I’m not my father’s son” did not disappoint. Brilliant show well done to everyone involved.

I saw this show today and enjoyed all the harmonies throughout the sow.My two favourite characters were Charlie and Lauren who both delivered amazing performances. Charlie played his character with such sincerity which made his character so believable. He also has a powerhouse of a voice. Lauren must be a fun role to play as she is hilarious not only did Lauren have a powerful voice but great comedic timing which was superb.

I have seen this show twice so far and I found the cast worked well together and complemented each others vocals throughout the performance. Full of emotion while Charlie and Lola sang together bringing tears to my eyes, especially during Not My Father’s Son. The rest of the cast were phenomenal but a special commendation must go to Lauren, Don and Nicola who all played their roles perfectly as well as Pat, who’s facial expressions had me in stitches the entire time she was on stage. Truly the show that just keeps on giving, it’s not one to be missed!

Having seen this show on tour a few years back and in the west end, I’m happy to say that this cast gave them a run for their money. The cast, the tech, the vocals and the costumes are sublime. Elliot McLean is such an exciting actor to watch. He nailed the comedic timing of the role yet he gave such an honest and authentic performance. His voice is just incredible. Lola had me in stitches yet made the role their own. Laura Johnston as Lauren was just perfect casting. She truly humanises the eccentric role and did not miss a beat. Special mention goes to Don & Nicola. Robbie McHardy-Reid was so captivating as Don. He was also very exciting to watch. Orla Jones was just fabulous in her role as Nicola and in the ensemble. So much charisma. The Angels & Factory workers were just stunning and the harmonies were beautiful. Catriona & team, you’ve truly created something special. What a fantastic production.

I had a blast with this show! Lola was exceptionally good and well-rounded, they looked beautiful, had a really good voice and strong acting with great comedy. Charlie also had a really great voice that sounded similar to Ed Sheeran’s and gave a strong portrayal of the character that was dynamic and believable. The two performing Not My Father’s Son was a particularly moving moment in the show and was sung and acted brilliantly. Lauren also shined with a confident performance that showed she has a great grasp of comedy and a powerful voice. Overall, the whole cast sang, danced and acted really well and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This is the second time we have seen this show and it's a show that keeps on giving. All the cast are amazing and give it their all. Nicola and Don play their part well. Lola and Charlie and Lauren all stand out. Lola and Charlie have great songs and their duet (not my father's son was breathtaking there is no words to describe. Lauren vocals were amazing pitch perfect and can that girl act a song her facial expressions were sublime. We are glad we saw the show again and wish the cast good luck with the rest of their run.

Wow!! What can I say, but that you're in for a real treat. The show is, of course, fantastic, but the entire cast really brings it to life in a wonderfully intimate environment. That said, Charlie, Lola, and Nicola are the stars of the show with brilliant performances! Stop reading this review and GO SEE THIS SHOW!

Absolutely brilliant show, this is a favourite show of mine anyway, but Matty as Lola is an absolute find! Great sass, singing, and sentiment in equal measure!
The whole cast are excellent, amazing costumes for the fantastic Angels and hilarious performance from Laura Johnston as Lauren. Make time to get and see this talented bunch, you won't be disappointed ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Probably the best show I’ve ever seen at the Fringe in all my years of going. Brought my Gran along and she wants to come back and see again! The cast is all amazingly talented, telling a very powerful and important story in such a beautiful way. Really recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, feel-good show - it should be sold out every show! Congrats to the cast and crew, we thoroughly enjoyed it and will no doubt be back before the run ends!

Fantastic show - such a talented cast. The actors that played Lola and Charlie were both amazing and brought me to tears at one point. Go and see it!!

Orla Russell 65 days ago

What a show! Elliot McLean’s take on ‘Charlie’ is lovable, comedic and real- he leads the story excellently, accompanied with his powerhouse of a voice!
The set and costume for this show is just breathtaking and so impressive to see at the Fringe.
Laura Johnston’s ‘Lauren’ is just perfect, her comedic timing is brilliant, and incomparable to anything I’ve seen before. Her solo song is nothing short of incredible, what an immense talent this girl has! I had heard so many good things about the cast of the show before seeing it, and I must admit, they certainly did not disappoint. Matty J’s rendition of ‘Lola’ is tremendous, her vocals are as gorgeous as her glamour! I’m honoured to have had the pleasure of seeing their ‘Lola’ in action.
Also I think it’s important to give credit to the actor who played ‘Don,’ the villainous character in the show. Robbie McHardy- Reid manages to capture this sleazy character well whilst still bringing a slightly lovable and remorseful side to ‘Don.’
I also thought that Orla Jones’ ‘Nicola’ was excellent. She portrayed this tricky, glamorous character superbly, whilst still leaving me feeling slightly sorry for her. She mastered the task of making quite a cold character, warm.
The ensemble are an absolute machine and work well to create a strong backbone to the show- they deserve huge credit. The production team have done really well creating a show full of strong direction, beautiful harmonies and catchy choreography. Well cast and well executed!

seeing kinky boots was a breath or fresh air. seeing young people put their all into a show is a privilege to watch. lola & charlie stole the show, giving me chills throughout the entire two hours. not only do the main actors touch your heart, but so do many of the ensemble members. in particular, pat drew my entire the entire time she was on stage. kinky boots and all of the cast reminds you why we see theater and why we are here at the fringe. spend your money multiple times to see this lovely cast put their heart and sole into this show!

What a wonderful production. Young performers really working hard to hone their craft with some wonderful performances, particularly from the main leads. I question the value/purpose of people making negative comments that serve little or no purpose. However, I am glad that almost every other review reflects this wonderful show & embraces the spirit of the Edinburgh Fringe. I will be back to see this wonderful cast again soon. Keep up the good work.

I have genuinely never seen the original so going in blind for this experience was incredible!

Super fun! I heavily respect the message of inclusivity and respecting people for who they are so I really resonated with this production.

Music was great, singers were amazing and the overall atmosphere was fun!

A truly Holy Moley experience!

Julie Yates 67 days ago

really disappointed in this production, drag queens were messy and had horrible make up application. acting was mediocre at best with sloppy choreography and dancing from the ensemble from start to finish. Lola was good though. don't waste your money

What a fantastic start to our Fringe experience 2024. Performed by an extremely talented and energetic theatre company, the story of Kinky Boots was presented through fabulous singing and acting. Special mention must go to characters Charlie and Lola who portrayed their roles in such a moving and sensitive yet humorous way. Highly recommend this show to everyone!

First of our 9 fringe shows booked this week and what a fantastic show to start with. Great talent and vocals. Whole cast was superb - we thoroughly enjoyed and were captivated, the 2 hours flew by.
Very impressed with how Lola and her "girls" danced around in those heels!
It's a big "go see" from me....

I didn't think you could find this quality a production at the Fringe. The vocals are amazing! Charlie and Lola are perfectly cast. Already had it booked to go again before we left the theatre. Don't miss this incredible production! Would see it a lot more if I lived closer!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow! Wow! Wow! I can only post one review so had to delete my previous post but as this review will be even better I had no hesitation! That was our third time & I am more & more impressed with every show. Despite the fact that this was their 16th show it was as fresh & vibrant as it was on the opening day! In fact, I would say it was even better! Charlie & Lola stole the show but this was only possible as the supporting cast were tremendous! Special mention to Lauren, Nicola & Don but the rest of the cast were equally endearing in their parts. We are coming to the show one more time & I cannot wait! Well done guys & continue to smash it out of the park!!

Gareth Thomas 69 days ago

So good we came twice! I thought it was good the first time and nearly left my review just from that but I’m so glad I didn’t because the second time was even better! A well deserved standing ovation! Go see it because this just gets better and better! The whole cast were note perfect but Nicola was outstanding!

Leon Evangeliou 69 days ago

Amazing ensemble.
Lola is simply fabulous and gives a slightly different note on the west end renditions of her sons.
Natalie is as comedic as her West End counterpart and Charlie is pretty damn good.
If this hasn’t convinced you, come for the young Taron Egerton lookalike

Wow what a great show, loved the story, music and venue.
Would go back to see this again.
Well done to the cast and crew.

Sheena Robertson 71 days ago

Saw this show on Fri. A young cast full of talent. The show takes the audience on a roller coaster of emotions from Lola & Charlie sharing their thought provoking childhood stories to Lauren's comedy timing & hilarious facial expressions.
One small criticism, felt the music in the first half was way too loud for each character singing, making it difficult to hear the lyrics at times. The volume of music accompaniment improved in second half.
A show worth seeing.

Lynn Robertson 71 days ago

Absolutely loved this show!
Fabulous cast, a must see!

Amazing. A great commentary for today - particularly when we think we can be complacent on LGBTQ+. A beautiful cast that interprets the original story to make us really look inside ourselves - is Don really out there or is there a little bit of Don inside us IFYKYK - go see Kinky Boots
