Description
Kilara Sen is the pink-haired star from Paul Hollywood Eats Japan (Channel 4) and Asia's Got Talent (AXN). Two years ago, this bold Japanese female comedian leapt to New York, ready to reveal the truths about Japanese women and society while empowering survivors and shattering stereotypes. Kilara, a hikikomori (shut-in) survivor and HBCU (American black college) alumna, also takes on harassment by another symbol of Japanese power: the middle-aged man. Drawing from her unique experiences in Japan and America, Kilara shares the truths of being a Japanese woman. Tw*tally awesome! Kilara did a friendly and interesting performance that drew messages from Japanese culture and relating it to what people are like in the USA and UK. If you havent seen her before go and book tickets! She has amazing energy

The really interesting part of her show was her personal history. I think she should consider making a show emphasizing that as a monologist rather with some comedy, rather than emphasizing the jokes as a comedian.

Kilara has a great deal of stories to tell, and mixes in the audience and their experiences. Be prepared to get asked unexpected questions and stay quick on your feet :)

A great show!
Kilara is a wonderfully fun and exuberant person who has the stage presence, wit and charm to captivate the entire audience. All of this, coupled with the interesting show content, makes for a really engaging watch.
There is a serious message woven into the show, borne mainly from Kilara’s own experiences (plus wider societal issues), but it has been written in such a way and is delivered with such humour and panache that it shines a spotlight whilst always remaining funny and not coming over as preachy. That is testament to Kilara’s skill as a writer and performer and her character in general.
In short - go see it!

Kilara brings a really unique and fresh perspective, having lived in both Japan and the US - spotlighting cultural differences and absurdities with great humour. She engaged the audience so well from the start, and kept up momentum throughout. Some moments were so relatable, she had the audience - women especially - howling with laughter. If you're frustrated with the divisiveness in society today, or if you're simply looking for original, engaging comedy, then Kilara's show could be just the tonic!

Her jokes were so fun and crisp! It was so fun hearing cultural difference jokes. Her comedy is so smart and it’s in her second language in a third cultural setting. Her crowd work was also so so fun. I also enjoyed the message too. It was such a fun room.
