Description

John Wayne Gacy was one of the worst serial killers in US history: responsible for the rape, torture and murder of at least 33 teenage boys and young men in the 1970s. He became known as the Killer Clown, receiving international attention and shocking his suburban Chicago community where he was known for his performances as a clown at charitable events and children's parties. From his own chilling perspective and using quotes made by the man himself with well-documented testimony, this new play seeks to explore the question.... are killers born evil?

He captured the essence of the serial killer. Facial expressions and demeanour made me dislike him initially, his speaking style was annoying and it really came across his egotistical nature and annoyingness. This is a good thing!

Even though I know the case somewhat, I knew I was being manipulated and gaslit, he made me feel as if I need to research the case again to reinstate the facts again as he tried to make me doubt the guilty narrative of his character. It was a solo monologue throughout, I was expecting more theatrics in the piece but I also understood the moral and ethical issues of theatrical storytelling when dealing with real murder, r*pe, and abuse victims.

A very sinister and unnerving performance from an actor who has clearly put painstaking research into the life of John Wayne Gacy. Chilling and thought-provoking.

Amazing show with a brilliant central performance

This is an interesting and informative show highlighting the warped mindset of this horrific individual. An important show and one that clearly required several hours of research. If you are interested in criminal psychology, this is the show for you.
